God I loved this band. It's hard to divorce the music from Ethan's actions, but there's no denying their abusive partnership created some amazing music. III is a masterpiece and this album is just so fun, with its eerie sci-fi edge.

You definitely gotta listen to their next album "(II)". It has the same kind of formula as this album, but darker sounding, way more atmospheric, and overall just easier on the ears at times. I personally think you would like that one more.

Lovely record. FUCK ETHAN KATH. This is the type of album to make you cream your electronic biscuits. Also day 1 or 2, idk? of asking for The Texas Jerusalem Crossroads (2001) by Lift to Experience. Again, great early 2000's indie rock slapper. They need more love and attention.

Love this album, but I do think their second one is an overall better album. You should definitely check it out. Also, definitely recommend Deltron 3030 self titled album, Sometimes I Might Be Introvert by Little Simz, and if you're looking for something completely different then I definitely think you should check out Dreams by Gabor Szabo. An absolute treat on the ears

LOVE YOUR VIDEOS MY GUY a few recommendations: Ghosts of the Great Highway - Sun Kil Moon SMILE :D - Porter Robinson (pop-punk, pop, electronic) Process - Sampha (experimental r&b, great production) Koi No Yokan - Deftones (very heavy, sexier and heavier radiohead imo) Hypochondriac - Brakence (very experimental emo rap, glitch pop) Reading Writing And Arithmetic - The Sundays (the smiths ish, with beautiful female vocals)

my goat thank you recs: Cap'n Jazz - Shmap'n Shmazz (The goats of midwest emo... the originators... I don't gotta say anything else. The album is the first 12 tracks of the compilation that's on Spotify btw, but you should also check out the Take On Me cover that's directly after the album in the tracklist, it's awesome) Swirlies - Blonder Tongue Audio Baton (GORGEOUS unique sounding early 90s shoegaze, sounds like mbv, pavement, guided by voices with twee pop mixed in, so awesome, better than Loveless imo) Violent Femmes - Violent Femmes (Unique folk-punk, early 80s college/alt rock, very catchy) Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque (Really catchy power pop, slightly shoegazey, same label as The Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine) Quasi - Featuring "Birds" (Awesome Built to Spill-esque/Pacific Northwest indie rock, same label as Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, Duster etc) The Breeders - Pod (Unique early 90s alt rock, Steve Albini prod, was in Kurt Cobain's top 3 albums of all time) Slint - Tweez (Sick late 80s post-hardcore/math rock, also Steve Albini prod) Pinback - Pinback (Very chill and creative late 90s indie rock) Modest Mouse - This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (Amazing album, basically as good as The Lonesome Crowded West) The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land (badass big-beat dance music) Guided By Voices - Bee Thousand (lovely 90's lo-fi) Hella - Hold Your Horse Is (Math Rock with the drummer from Death Grips, before he was in Death Grips) Pavement - Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain (Absolutely perfect 90's indie rock album)

The lyrics for Air War are taken from James Joyce's novel Ulysses, one of the earliest postmodern novels which uses a different writing format for every chapter (much like how this album shuffles through vocalists throughout the first half). The quoted chapter, Sirens, has its language and grammar structured so that it resembles music, or a siren song. The first parts of the chapter are incomprehensible before it slowly changes into something more recognisable and disturbing. Still think you'd love Tracey Denim by Bar Italia.

A great early experimental rap album is 'From Filthy Tongue of Gods and Griots' by Dalek from 2002. Right from the start it hits you hard like a Death Grips song and switches throughout the album and its just amazing! Very underappreciated album in my opinion especially 'Forever Close My Eyes', which imo is one of the best songs of the 2000's

I recommend reacting to any of these albums next! RUNNERS HIGH by The Pillows (more great melancholic grunge and alt rock from them) (Also bran new lovesong is phenomenal) Maladroit by Weezer (lots of gems on this one with more of a heavy sound compared to their other albums) Three Out Change or HIGHVISION by Supercar (basically perfect Japanese shoegaze albums with HIGHVISION being more indietronica focused with memorable moments throughout) (Three Out Change is more shoegazy with elements from british rock bands like oasis)

Funny you brought up MySpace, I ordered an earlier version of this album from their original Canadian label via their MySpace page in about 2005-6, they then got signed to a bigger label and the og distro lost the ability to sell it, I got an email saying I would still get my copy despite the change in logistics. It never did arrive & my follow-up inquiries went unanswered. I'm also gonna suggest Yo La Tengo again.

It's probably important to note that some of the song titles have a meaning regarding the song text. The lyrics for Untrust Us is cocaine is not good for you repeated constantly while the title of the song tells you to not believe them. Basically, cocaine isn't good for you, maybe it is. We never tried it so it might be good for you.
