@@BenHall289 I don't understand it either, but some people do. There is freedom in it, and a lot of people won't give it up. I didn't believe it until my mother started working with homeless veterans at a VA hospital (completely free treatment for them). They often refuse help. Refuse the treatment program. Refuse any social service intervention. They are given free in-patient treatment to get off substances in the best ways modern medicine knows, and are encouraged to get off the streets into a sober living facility that is also free run by the VA. The ones want out can walk in at any time and get help and get off the streets, the ones that don't get help aren't ready to give up that freedom or the drugs, or both. We can't make them.

@2be Blunt Many of the addicts he interviews are too poor to buy cocaine. Cocaine is typically used by functioning addicts who make a lot of money, due to the expense of the drug. Also, the high from cocaine is very short in comparison. Most of these addicts are meth or heroin users, as those drugs are significantly cheaper and easier to come by on the street.
@scott8908
4 жыл бұрын
@2be Blunt None of the addicts interviewed said they believed they were doing cocaine. Many claim they are using meth or fent. I have never run into a meth addict who thinks the meth they are using is cocaine. Any addict will be able to tell the difference. Meth and cocaine have very different symptoms and effects. And meth also is more granular than cocaine. Doesn't take a degree to tell the difference. Lay off the crack brother.
@ongogablogean4920
4 жыл бұрын
Scott N side note.. but crack and meth aren’t that much cheaper than cocaine. I never understood why people think that. Maybe meth I don’t know about that particularly. Addiction is so crazy and multifaceted. I had an alcoholic father. He died when I was young so he wasn’t in my life. But I believe addiction can be hereditary..? I’ve had my issue with self medicating as a young adult. I’ve dabbled in different things. But for a night out and the next day just go back to work and not think of it. I don’t know why I never developed an addiction when some others do. I’m agnostic but I thank the universe because it’s so easy to become lost. This is why I empathize with these people. It could’ve been me.

methamphetamines is a wicked beast.. bless his soul. Nice new camera angle. Nice to see the interviewer. Adds to the realism and grounds it. Thank you.. Where do you film these? A bando near by?

M I travel when I need to (for certain subjects), but I’ve got a studio in the heart of Skid Row in Los Angeles just for this project. It’s taken a while, but now I’m tight with all the addicts, drug dealers, gang members as well as the police. Building trust over time has allowed me to get people who normally wouldn’t share much of anything with anyone to sharing some hair raising stories at my studio. I’ll be posting some of these later this month. Thanks, ML

it's so unreal to me that someone can be on crystal meth for 10 years and not die, or not really start hating the bad effects of the drug so much they quit, I mean I guess some people have stronger organisms than others...
