Good job finding cool lines late in the season on a very low show year. There's a lot more gnar when the whole mountain is open and the snow is better. A lot.

Awesome video! this is my home mountain. We had a bad season this year and it looks like you had extra bad conditions when you were there unfortunately. Ususally we get some of the lightest snow in the pnw.

Oh word! I'm really hoping to get back there mid season with better coverage! When do you suggest the best time to go for decent vis, conditions, and snowpack is?

@@skitnbman usually late feb to mid march is the best imo, but it really depends because the pnw weather is unpredictable.

How much different is the snow quality compared to places like Utah and Colorado

Spring wise, it's a ton more stickier, slower, and heavy. I've also heard the mountain is commonly enveloped with fog for most of the season. Overall, they get less snow than most, and what they do get is a lot heavier and wetter, so definitely not as good as Utah or Colorado, and not even better than Bachelor in our experience, but I've not been during their snowfall periods, so these are just my early assessments. Would love to get back ASAP 🤙🔥

Utah and colorado are definetly better. Crystal gets similar accumulation to colorado and park city generally, but less than the cottonwoods in utah. Colorado and Utah both get lighter density snow.

PNW snow consolidates under temperature swings. Rocks get covered. You can bootpack. Proper spring corn skiing can be better than in the Rockies as there's consolidated base under soft layer (not in this video, not the best spring skiing at Crystal in terms of snow conditions). Backcountry is prime in spring.
