I will tell you a little secret. I sometimes don't know what I am looking at either, unless there was a report as to what others found in the area. In that case, I collect a sample and check it later ... especially paying attention to location, associated minerals, streak, hardness, colour, etc. I enjoy your channel and watch your videos from my TV.

There are a couple of different manufacturers. I didn't look around very much and bought this one as it was the only one at the mineral show that I was at. It is an Arrow TS11. When I worked at an underground mine in Marysville Montana sometimes we would find huge caverns full of crystals.we called them Crystal palace. Miners would spend their shift collecting crystals instead of mining for gold. The boss had me toss a couple sticks of explosives in them to powder all the crystals so the miners would go back to work.

Some came out at end of shift proud and showing huge museum quality crystals.dang near got fired. The ore was valuable at this mine. Is miners we're making 750 to 1000 a day depending upon the job or location of heading. I was known for advancing my heading daily( full cycle,muck bolt drill blast.) So I was put in a very lucrative heading. One round would provide up to 35 ounces of gold. No time for mining crystals,gotta blow em up

Yes. I start with stage 3 on any rocks that I don't want to round anymore. I look for rock that has no crack or crevice and make sure they are clean and won't crumble. Otherwise, there is no issue doing that. If you are unhappy with the result on any, pull them out and take them back a stage or two when you tumble again.

@symonsheppard5519
5 жыл бұрын
Grassguy 420 I have been using one for about two years and I can say that if your crystals have grit in the places you just can't get at then these are the best thing . Compressed air is excellent but with these guns you can put mild detergent in then just wash and go. lol Warning, mind your fingers.
@meMiner
5 жыл бұрын
I wondered about adding detergent but wanted to read the manual first. RTFM. I was told to remove the water holder when not in use, to help avoid calcium build up. I suspect it would be a good idea to run some vinegar thru it once in a while if that is a concern.

@meMiner
5 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried but don't think it would be a good idea to use silica beads in a tumbler. They become saturated (adsorb water), turning the crystals into discret blobs of gel. The rocks will probably crush them. It would probably make it difficult to control the usable moisture in your barrel. Still, an interesting question and would be a fun experiment just to see what in fact happens. Otherwise, I think it better to use a meda that does not absorb or adsorb water.
