One of CSX's premiere classification yards can be found in Selkirk, NY, about eight miles south of Albany. The yard, built by the New York Central Railroad in 1924, boasts a 70 track hump classification yard, an engine servicing facility and, newly added, automobile transloading facilities. During a weekend visit to the yard, we were treated to quite an interesting assortment of power, but we not too lucky regarding weather. Clouds and light rain accompanied most of our trip around the area, but did little to burst our spirits (you will see why in the next few months!!) This video showcases three locations around Selkirk: Ben's Bridge, a closed road bridge that runs over the yard close to the engine facility; Game Farm Road crossing, a normal gathering place for local railfans; and Guilderland Center, where another closed, and thoroughly dilapidated, bridge crosses the main tracks. A wide variety of power and trains that all will enjoy accompany this video. Now, sit back and relax while you enjoy CSX action around Selkirk, NY.
Enjoy, subscribe and thanks for watching!!
