it's funny you say that because his regular defense has been questionable - he had three errors in the first four games he played in. It's been a open question whether he could stay at 3B and get comfortable at the position. I hope his athleticism ends up making more web gems like this.

Man mariners just can’t hit when they get runners in scoring position. It’s like they forget how to just keep the line moving once someone is on second or third.
Legend has it. Imanaga trains heavily with his blind fold before each game. Striking out batters using a technique called Dermo-optical perception.

2:10... Error charged to Busch, but that is Swanson's fault for throwing a lollipop to first base. Throw the darn ball with some velocity! What are these casual tosses he does? 👎
@ThatGuy-nv7cx
5 ай бұрын
Even at the high school level, the first baseman catches that ball 9/10 times. Considering that’s about as bad a mistake that can happen to a first baseman, he definitely deserves the error. The only thing worse would be a throw to the chest and it popping out of the glove, which you see maybe once total all year.

They spoke about this on Cubs radio broadcast, he's new to playing third base and because of the dive, he may not have known where the runner was right away so decided to get the sure out.

One of those BABIP nights. D-Mo hits a ball that would have been a 3-Run HR if not for the wind blowing the ball 7 feet back into the field of play. Garver hits a missile down the line that Morel makes a great play on. Bright spot Hancock had a pretty good game. Hope to see him build on that and hopefully Castillo is back to being La Piedra to pick up a series win tomorrow.

Seems to me bullpens are used too soon. Why not wait till they are really needed instead of counting pitches. Better might be to a reliever ready after so many pitches by the starter. So many games are lost because of early removal of the starter and, must be admitted, there are not that many good bullpens these days.
@ThatGuy-nv7cx
5 ай бұрын
When you say so many games are lost to early removal, you’re forgetting to factor into the equation the likelihood the batter will get a hit the 3rd time through the order. While the pitcher might be in the “flow” of the game already, batters stats skyrocket the third time facing a pitcher in the same game. It’s not as simple as saying “if you never took him out then you would’ve won”

Nico Hoerner with 43 steals last season should be batting 1st or 2nd... not 7th!
@tyger1147
5 ай бұрын
No. Stealing does dictate where you hit, getting on base does. Happ is awesome is a lead off hitter when batting lefty.
@gregmatyas4272
5 ай бұрын
Obviously you don’t know baseball, if Hoerner was hitting .250+ maybe have him towards the top, and btw he has been lead off batter vs lefties, but right now he’s fine right where he is.
@millypoo7713
5 ай бұрын
@gregmatyas4272 Obviously, you are the one that doesn't know baseball because you're judging a player based on 2 weeks of a season. Do you really think Nico is going to hit .179 all season? Last season, Nico's OBP was .346, Happ's was .360. Big deal! Not much of a difference. Nico scored 98 runs last season hitting near the top of the order. In case you haven't noticed, speed causes havoc on pitchers & infielders. Nico should be hitting near the top of the order, and Happ should be hitting in an rbi spot... 3rd thru 6th. Don't tell me I don't know baseball. I've been watching the Cubs & MLB since 1979.
@millypoo7713
5 ай бұрын
@tyger1147 I said Nico should be batting 1st or 2nd. Can you read? You can't judge Nico 14 games into a season. Oh by the way, Nico played in 150 games last season. He batted 1st 74x, batted 2nd 75x, and 7th... once. He scored 98 runs and was very productive hitting 1st & 2nd. He should be hitting 1st or 2nd this season as well.
@ThatGuy-nv7cx
5 ай бұрын
@@millypoo7713and the cubs struggled with risp last year. This year they are scoring half a run more despite not hitting nearly as well statistically. You seem stuck in the 80’s way of building a lineup where you want your fast guy in lead off and rbi guy lower in the order. The game has evolved.
