Great video on process to take a surface scratch out on a glossy or matte cultured marble top.

Your gelcoat has been destroyed. If you elect to sand it out you must respray to 20 mils of clear gel. Then use an orbital sander starting at 220 and proceed as per video, finally using the auto buffer with a buffing brick to finish. Former shop owner

Great video, I will be using this in the future to fix a few scratches in a table that my in-law has from moving her table. Also there are some dimples on the side where there is missing acrylic (not sure of the type of sealant used) so I assume the process would be the same but a few extra steps. 400, 800, 1000 grit sand paper, no compound buffing since it's down to the stone, fill in with adhesive once the excess peel-able acrylic is removes and re-surface using the correct sealant type, the continue the process as outlined in the video to smooth the resealed surface. Any conformation on this or advice would be nice; for now I will search more youtube videos. =)

I have a solid surface top like this but the sink bowl has a thin coating of a white colored material for the basin part. It has a chip missing and now you can see the black vanity top color below the chip in the white coating. Any ideas on how to repair this? Top was made by US Marble 6 yrs ago and they went out of business last year. Thanks for the video!

I have 1970's cultured marble sink, black/gold vein. I've ruined the resin finish with abrasive cleaners. Can I sand using your method to remove the ruined resin finish from the entire sink ? If so, what could I use to restore the shine once the resin is sanded off without buffing ? I plan to touch up the marble color because black hair dye spilled on the cultured marble which left brown spots. Can I use a paint or gilding paste ? Then cover with resin but I don't know if it would cure ?

For gosh sakes purchase a new cultured marble sink. They are inexpensive. The polyester resins and gel-coats sucked back in the 70's.

Does this technique also work on faux marble?

I believe faux marble is cultured marble.

He was looking at it concerned at the end 😆 I would highly recommend starting with a 1500 to 2000, and then to finish with 2500 , most likely there are tiny scratches everywhere on yours , they make a gel gloss Polish in a pink bottle that I would suggest BUFFING after sanding. .you will have to put some elbow grease into it 👌

Light will still reflect off of his repair because he created a depression in the gel coat.

Absolutely and he went ruff on the grit!! 😮 I would suggest much much finer sand paper!! 1500 - 2000- 2500
