Why would libertarianism be 'morally bankrupt'? It's just not based on collectivist morality, that doesn't mean there is no morality. Wack take.
@yourparagon
2 жыл бұрын
It's bankrupt because the morals it espouses directly hurt the world and make people suffer. Libertarian policies leave everyone to fend for themselves and break down public systems and allows the redistribution of their power to private corporations. So not only does it hurt the weak, sick, old, and anyone not born with incredible wealth; but it makes it harder and harder to live a free and comfortable life for everyone not born lucky. Living in a libertarian society is much more stressful and dangerous than living in a collectivist society. It atomizes the community, breeds distrust and fear of those different from yourself, promotes the destruction of regional and global ecosystems in exchange for quick profit, allows the sale of dangerous weapons and chemicals, gives you less bargaining power over your job's hours, safety, and wages, enables the development of vertical and horizontal monopolies, widens wage gaps, extorts people for basic human needs like clean water/housing/medicine, and allows wealthy and self-interested groups to control the news and media. Not to mention that any country which actually dissolved it's military and police, under the principles of non-aggression, would quickly become a satellite or colony of its neighbors. It is difficult to design a system which runs worse than no government at all.

@@DiogenesOfDelaware the NAP is worthless if there's nothing to enforce it, you're imagining a fantasy world where no one is beholden to anyone but for whatever reason they irrationally abide by this 'principle' even in situations where there's no downside for, say, Coca-Cola to hire deathsquads in latin America for instance.
