It's like starting a Ford Explorer review showing it racing at Talladega. Knowing the Mavericks already i liked the opening because it showed an even "extra" versatility to the skis. To someone who has no idea what the Mavericks are though it would be confusing. One of the funnest skis i've been on when it comes to long smooth terrain. Would be great on the cruisy blues at Breckenridge. You have to really watch your weight distribution though with the Mavericks. Think once you have that down it's smooth sailing!

Agreed, I think also the timing could take some getting used to if you're coming from head or fischer

I am the same way about Enforcers and Stockli that you are about these skis and I think we totally agree on the Salomon's.. I think as far as the front of the ski loading up I think I have more of an experience as Jeff than you and Bob do.. Bob likes to have the tips of his skis really stiff but he is really good at managing those skis when the load up.. I think me and Jeff get thrown.. It sounds like you are really good at managing stiffer/energetic/reactive skis.. My experience on the Salomons was that they were stiffer tips but not reactive.. The skis I was on were 106x188.. The shorter length could actually make them more reactive.. Even the narrower skis could be more reactive..

How do the 88ti compare to the 95ti? I'm looking for good carving but able to off piste on powder days. Tried the 105cti but found them less precise on groomers.

When you get back into skiing this year would like to see you demo Rossignol Experience 86 ti skis (when the conditions are firmer eastern style) Volkl blaze 86 and 94 (all mountain softer snow conditions).

I always thought A-Frames were people who created and "A" between their legs / failed to match the inner leg angle to the outer... He was a "leaner" -- no upper / lower body separation -- which is why he couldn't get as much pressure on the outer leg and thought the ski was "burly"....
@RicketySkiReviews

I always think of it like your leaning with your upper body and not having separation at the hips, but your explanation kinda makes sense too, multiple ways to skin a cat and all that

@@RicketySkiReviews I think I was saying they are 2 different forms of "bad skiing" -- and A-frame referred to what I described --- A framers can be leaners too and vice-versa... I actually lean (inadequate upeer body/lower body separation) when I get lazy or start slashing berms... (do the same on bike and in kayak when lazy) but I never A-frame...

You’re correct! A-framing has no relation to leaning/banking into the turn👍

I’m an intermediate skier and I’m looking at getting my first pair of skis. I’m leaning towards a few different 88 models. I was wondering what you would recommend. I’m looking for something that focuses on piste and groomers. With a focus on carving and speed. Also, I was curious what you thought about the Elan ripstick 88.

Have not skied the ripsticks yet. I think the QST 92's can be a good recommendation if you want to eventually be able to go off trail since they're pretty surfy, but a really good option for intermediates wanting to advance is the Fischer Ranger 90, it has easy turn initiation which will allow you to progress in your carving while also just be an all around good performer. Just my 2 cents. Typically I have a subscription tier for 1 on 1 ski recommendations.

Do they feel like they ski short due to rocker? I'm 5'9 140lbs and am interested in them in 169cm but I'm wondering if they'll feel more like a low 160cm ski due to the rocker.

no, not really, I'm 6'1" and ski a 176 and they feel fine, they feel true to size imo

Seriously considering these or the 86c. I mostly hit groomers but like the option of getting into deeper snow. I’m in Utah, almost at the Idaho border. Also currently have the Vantage. Thoughts between the 86c and 88 Ti?

About the jump rants, I like that they adress this. Like I have a park dedicated ski, but I will still hit the park with the skis I have on my feet if I feel like it. And those are probably gonna be racing skis or my enforcer 94 😂 and nope they are not made for that. But they can do it. Even if the Maverick aint made for that I'm sure its easier to predict than those skis I just mention on big airs. I'd even go so far to argue that powerful carving skis are a stable platform to land huge airs (speaking 40 feet +), even more stable than most cheap twintips. Gotta be cautious not to get catapult over your landing tho 😂

Yeah, they're not a freestyle ski so don't know what this guy's complaining about. It's got a flat tail. Why would anyone want to ski it switch? Also, I think it'll be a great EC ski or for anyone, anywhere hard snow or soft who wants a high performance ski. I'm really looking forward to its precision in short turns, bumps, and longer carving turns.

If you want railroad tracks all day, carving on rails, go with the Atomic Slalom ski, very hard to find.
