@@KelappanKingyeah I was gonna say “Native American language” is like saying “European language” People seem to lump all native tribes of America together. They were distinct from each other like how countries or states can have different cultures but live in the same region. Some native tribes hated other native tribes and went to war against them. So if you were to return the lands to the indigenous peoples, which people would receive what land? If before the Europeans arrived the east coast was controlled by Apache, but the Apache stole the land from the Comanche in the first place……do you return it to the Apache or the Comanche?

Just please remember and keep in mind that this isn’t fiction. This is real, taken directly from the men you’re watching being portrayed on screen. Some things are wrong but 99% of it is real and true. You’re watching the story of this company and Men from the beginning to the end of the war. I only mention this because so many times I see reactions and people just believe it to be a historical fiction when that’s not the case.

But that also was a very different war from what the Western World is seeing in our time. The Germans and the Japanese were absolutely savaging Europe and Asia, and there were constantly refugees coming to America for years at that point. Many Americans had parents or grandparents who were born in Europe, and who still had close family there. This wasn't some confusing civil war in a far away country that few people had ever heard of, and the American government spontaneously decided to do an intervention to sort things out. Friends and family were being murdered in the millions, and then the Japanese started attacking an American state and American colonies. People who volunteered to join the war did have a very clear picture of what they would be fighting for. And they were the generation that was born after World War 1. I think there would not have been much thought about going on a great adventure and do cool stuff.

The American military law did allow for the execution of disobedient soldiers, but in 1944 this has not been done for almost 80 years. We Stand Alone ...as a group or unit in this situation. I served in the 1st as my last duty assignment before exiting the military and our Battery Commander was a mirror image of Sobel. Talk about a much hated individual and an ego surpassed by none. Just because you are put in charge does not mean people will follow or support you. Sadly in the military, any degree of college education translates into leadership roles but in reality , leadership is a learned process on the job and it can be done well or poorly.....this also translates to the world outside the military...sadly. One of my favorite mini-series of all time. It's not perfect, there are some mistakes in it, but they did a very good job overall. There's some obvious stuff, like they have to compress time(or there would be two years worth of episodes) and they can't represent every single guy in the company. That would take a couple hundred guys, so you'll have some thing portrayed on film being done by someone that was actually, done by someone else in real life. But the look, the acting, all top notch. Developed from the Stephen Ambrose book of the same name, Band of Brothers. The obvious mistakes will get pointed out to you along the way. Enjoy!

Please watch “the Pacific” after this. Made by same people. May not be as highly rated but is every bit as good. Also an Australian 🇦🇺 element to that series you will enjoy

If you want to see an amazing ww2 movie made by veterans who lived it... but on the eastern front (which hollywood never makes movies about), you should watch Come And See (Idi I Smotri), its quite something.
