In 1983, the first Current 93 release, half a C60 cassette on the Mi-Mort label, the other half devoted to Nurse with Wound. This was followed by a 3-track EP, Lashtal/Salt/Caresse, and then in '84 by Nature Unveiled and Dogs' Blood Rising. I made sure to give each new release lots of airtime on my radio show, Productions of Time, Saturday midnight--Sunday 8AM, all through the amazing 1980s. Over the years I've gathered about 50 discs of Current 93 material. The Light Is Leaving Us All isn't my favorite of the bunch, but I'm really glad you reviewed it. David Tibet deserves all the exposure he can get. He has inspired a lot of people over the last (almost 40) years. Amazingly, this was my first exposure to your reviews, so now I get to backtrack and find out what else you've been covering. I'd love to see you review Nurse with Wound. As David Tibet has been the single constant in Current 93, Steven Stapleton has served the same role through about 50 discs of Nurse with Wound. It would make a great companion piece to your review of Current 93. I'll be looking forward to checking out your future reviews. End of transmission...

For those who are coming to Current 93 for the first time I highly recommend starting with The Inmost Light trilogy (EP/Album/EP). Listen to it in order, I think it's a great entry point and probably a better start then this new album.

I came to Current 93 as a fan of Nick Cave back in the 90s. I'd found out he was on All The Pretty Little Horses (the middle part of The Inmost Light trilogy) and I quickly had a new obsession. Definitely the best place for a new listener to start.

Nice review. I appreciate the sincere effort to describe the sumptuous sounds behind the frontman, unlike say Pitchfork who are apparently so in thrall to Tibet that their attentions (and presumably scoring) barely bother to warrant anything beyond the man (and his many and comorbid patripassians). Very nice, in other words, that the NINE OTHERS CREDITED with the recording get something of their due. And the background preamble is clearly warranted on this forum. Always interesting to see what makes the Current history cut.

Their best since 2005's 'Black Ships Ate the Sky'. I get the impression that Anthony is fairly new to England's Hidden Reverse? Lovely, with all of the best (and little of the worst) of the C93 memes (or whatever) present. So appropriate to see Alasdair Roberts on board!! Richard Dawson next, maybe? I still can't think of an equivalent artist who so risks utter ridicule but who, nevertheless, at times seems utterly sublime. A balancing-act of genius , I suppose. Certainly sui generis. I remain in awe. It gets better every listen, which is the mark of all the greatest C93 recordings.
