Im 71 now n living in Maryland but lived in Anchorage for 20 years back 1970- 1990 n miss living there, i worked as an RN in the Burn Unit n as a flight nurse. I got to more than 40 towns through out the state. Alaska was so different back then. Like only one small movie theater, just afew grocery stores, only 3 thrift shops, no large stores like Costco.I did alot of cross-country skiing n came close to many wild animals such as moose, bears, eagles n was never afraid. Animals know fear so need to be calm. I could write a book on all the experiences i had. I did keep a long journal. I miss Alaska.

I'm glad your FORD did not break down out there. The grocery stores in AK are price gouging you on many items. However a lot of it is due to shipping. We pay 1.10 -1.99 for dozen eggs in the midwest. Ground beef 4.50-5.50 a lb. is average. Milk is 3-4$ a gallon. When I go to TX, food is about the same but more driving. I been to Alaska many times, always armed. Them bears get hungry too. Smoked Salmon. Moose jerky. Bear stew can be delicious. Let's get cooking.

We were in Alaska in July last year. Absolutely beautiful. It’s so nice to recognize a lot of the sights you show along Richardson Highway. We did the train ride from Anchorage to Seward and back. We had a gorgeous sunny day. So much beauty. I highly recommend that train excursion. We had rented a van and then drove from Anchorage to Homer, spent some time there and then on to Seward. After spending time in Seward, we headed to Denali National Park. From there we headed to Fairbanks. There we did a river cruise on the Sternwheeler. Also on to North Pole, on to Tok and a side trip to Chicken, and then Valdez. We spent the day on a boat in Prince William Sound. We also were in Palmer and Wasilla. So much beauty. Loved everything about the trip. Would love to go back.

Hi Alone and Kenai 👋🥰It’s good to see the both of you✌️ Yes I agree on the pricing. Seems a lot of things are around the same price as here in Michigan in some places. I’m thankful I have a neighbor that raises beef steer and I get my meat from them. It rounds out to about $5.11 per pound of any cut. Recently it was $920.00 for 180lbs of meat (1/4 cow). I shop Walmart and Sam’s club here as well for food staples and what not. We raise chickens so I don’t have to worry about buying eggs lol. Me being gluten and dairy free is a little challenging but over all it works. Thank you for taking us along. Much love, stay safe, take care and God Bless🙏🥰🙏✌️

Hi Debbie! I don't remember what I paid in 2022 per pound of beef for the side of beef I purchased, but I am thankful that I purchased it when I did. The meat prices are so costly that I cannot imagine trying to fill my freezers from the grocery store. I rarely shop at Walmart and haven't been in a Sam's Club in years. I don't actually know if there are any in Alaska, but am thankful that I got a Costco membership finally. It has paid for itself, which is something that I did not mention in the video. I am glad that you are able to provide for you and your family with your chickens, garden and having neighbors who raise beef. Thank you again for being a channel member and watching the videos. 🤗💛

I live in Alaska, have been for 62 of my 67 years. From homesteading in Fairbanks as a child til ‘69, graduated from Cordova in ‘74 back to Fairbanks in ‘78, now currently outside of Wasilla since 2016. You did not show a real comparison of the food or prices. Just like anywhere you need to shop for the best prices, chose what is worthwhile considering the distances between places & time spent shopping. Of course there is a difference between here and Outside but I do know for a fact that most grocery stores outside don’t have the selection of items, fresh produce or meat and seafood. I’m very familiar with Sagaya’s, they have an outrageous selection of fresh vegetables/produce but you will pay for it. I shop there every time I go to Anchorage, love it! Costco isn’t better and has worse quality, especially meats but they do have a wonderful selection/variety most of the time. Fred’s may cost less sometimes but their meat isn’t that good and they will not have items in stock or no brand choice, a lot. The point I’m making is you have to shop and consider your options, what it cost to get there and what you’re able to spend. It’s expensive just to drive from where you’re at to and from Anchorage, along with your lodging. Probably in the long run it would behove you to shop Palmer/Wasilla. Alaska is expensive, but no more so than LA, New York or other I would say are extreme, populous places to live. It is a choice to live here just like anywhere else. I acknowledge your point to show the differences in prices, but the reality is there is no way to compare Barrow to Anchorage to somewhere in the lower 48. There is no comparison between any of these places.

This is my first time seeing you and your channel. You are a beautiful lady , articulate, and very helpful to us "lower-48'ers," to see how you live, and where you call home. I think the high prices there is like a test to see if people can survive with them. It will be coming to us, South of y'all, and is not that far off from your prices, now, already. I'm in Maryland . Those crab prices made me go, WOW! $32.99 per pound . 1/3 of which is shell and devil fingers. That's what we call the gills of the crabs we have in The Chesapeake Bay. The devil fingers are never to be eaten . Loaded with bacteria. I will watch more of your videos , based on how you video the landscape, what you talk about, and how you speak. Those extra car parts , was like a bit of comedy to a mechanic. " Hopefully the car will still run without them?" I'm not laughing at you. These machines are a mystery to most of us. My guess is the grocery prices will continue to rise until no one can afford them. The amount of stock in the store you featured, the high Thrift store prices, the empty of shoppers, large grocery store; What is all this hinting at ? Financial collapse, maybe? Planned to run the citizens out of all their sustainable funds. Even those who can afford crab will be run out of money after a few meals of crab. Thanks, Alone in Remote Alaska!
