Loved your cute cat, the books, especially the Page Habit unboxing and the connected charity. An idea on the reading slump... how about if you leave all the books you're currently struggling to finish and just read whatever excites or calls to you at the moment. At the same time choose one of the unfinished books to read per month? That might help move things along and get rid of your book slump. Just an idea. :)

My advice for getting through a reading slump is to put everything that you feel obligated to read DOWN. Pick up something light and fun that your brain doesn't have to work too hard with. Just getting back into the act of reading can be challenging let alone having to dissect and really work to read. You can do it!

Omg the same type of reading slump is happening to me. It’s like I can focus on just one book long enough to finish it, but I’m still loving all the books that I am halfway through. It’s like a commitment issue with my books lol.

Remus is frisky and darling! Love the glasses, btw. I agree you shouldn't push yourself to read; but, when I hit my most recent slump, I read comics and graphic novels. I just needed something different. I also, don't have any problems reading comics/graphic novels along with a book. Plus, don't put so much pressure on yourself to read quickly...savor and embrace the slow reading, lol. Sorry, I sound crazy at this point :) I'm reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. It has some difficult content, but it strangely has a feeling of hope. Great, honest video.

Reading slumps are the worst! The only thing that helps me is to read books less than 400 pages, short stories, and I have recently added graphic novels in to the mix. Sometimes readathons get me out of them too. Not because it forces me to read but because the challenges sometimes get me to pick up a book I would have never thought to pick up.

I just read White Oleander in January. Initially it was very compelling and beautifully written but by half way I was disenchanted. Once you're done, I'd like to know what you thought of it?

I've been in a reading slump, too. Maybe it's the weather? February blues? Anyhow, I recommend anything and everything by Heather O'Neill, such as LULLABIES FOR LITTLE CRIMINALS or THE GIRL WHO WAS SATURDAY NIGHT. Her descriptions are unique and at times outrageous. I think you'll enjoy her form of story telling and her voice. Happy Valentine's Day!

I have the same problem with books as you do your Nov reads. When I read too much depth or heaviness at one time, I get struck & even if I'm reading stuff I like, it just moves super slow.

I feel like I have had books that are good but don’t compel me like you are experiencing with Sweet Far Thing and Crazy Rich Asians and specifically I can think of Moloka’i. I’ve been in the middle of it for like 2 years... ha. I still want to finish it but it doesn’t call to me. I’m keeping the bookmark in place in hopes inspiration will hit me.
