In 1985, at the Konnopke snack bar in East Berlin, curry sausages, in particular, are served over the counter alongside Wieners and Bockwurst. A survey among the guests shows that the curry sausage is one of the most popular sausages, even though it is not known what ingredients the special curry spice mixture contains. Waltraud Konnopke, the daughter of founder Max Konnopke, guards the secret of the house and doesn't allow a word to be coaxed out of her about the special GDR recipe. The sausage lovers hardly care, they enjoy the generously served ketchup in the best Berlin fast food tradition.
