Curtis Mayfield is one of the Greatest Poet.. Singer.. Songwriter.. Innovator and Political Activist that has graced this planet. Even though he is an Icon he is still underrated. We don’t make them like this anymore.

Iam a 65 YEAR old black woman from Richmond Virginia. I grew up listening to Mr. Mayfield's music I love his music I wish the children and young people of this generation minds could be more like our generation was. There is so much hatred among the younger black generation now it just doesn't feel the same anymore. Black people used to love each other but now most of this new generation hate each other. But not all of them are bad. I'm going to keep them all in prayer. Merry Christmas to all and have a blessed Holiday

I'm a 59 year Sikh kid from Slough, and loved the Motown era as a kid, and the entire Jazz/Funk/Soul of the '70s. Curtis was a beautiful genius poet, and I agree with everything you say. What happened to all the love...? However the next generation, and then some! I think understand that Love isn't changing the world. So they believe to succeed they got to get pushy... Maybe. But lovely to read your post Valeria.

I am a 66-year-old woman from Richmond, VA who understand just what you mean! Mr. Mayfield songs inspired us to love and respect each other. I think it is why we got so much more done in the small amount of time than we have gotten done in the following generations. It seems he was the key to our moral and social conscious.

Growing up in the 1960's I always associated Curtis Mayfield and The Impressions songs and music with mellow Soul music and the Civil Rights Movement. When I hear their songs I remember the early and mid 1960's and It always brings back those memories of the Civil Rights Movement along with their love songs like I'm so Proud, So very 'Hard to Believe', etc. Great music we will probably never hear again.

What i REALLY appreciate most about music from black artists during the 60s 60s and 70s is how POWERFULLY UPBEAT AND POSITIVE it was it made you want to get up and dance and sing along. It just made everyone HAPPY and feel good no matter how bad things were . I miss those days when people COULD SING ABOUT LOVE FOR EACH OTHER

My sister I will say that he was more a realist trying to awaken the people that it is not about having a good time in order to hide from reality and not face it as they still do when reality shows the pain that the good time was causing for it was not real, it came out of Artificial Intelligence, where technology has completely removed the present generation from the real World, for their parents wanted to get a piece of a rotten Apple Pie . I was spiritually born in Queens NYC in 1972, and became part of the Superfly Era, yet I remained conscious, "Exodus Movement Of Jah People" by Bob Marley. It was first revealed to Martin Luther King when he gave his final speech, "I've Been To The Mountain Top" If we have not yet achieved this Exodus, I am unable to see how any of my sisters that are descended from slavery can say they proud to be a woman, unless their pride is in their dignity to be free of serving one that is still her slave mistress, teaching her slave girl through her education how to become an independent woman when it is her they give the title of being called Liberty. I also remember that accident Curtis had in Brooklyn at the Wind-gate Park, where a gust of wind brought down the stage light and he became paralyzed. If he gave us hope, he also also stood in the Video of the song We are all going to Hell" while looking at NYC! You spoke of the Month of (Pisces) March 14, 2022 and still we are waiting for the change. This is the reason that Jonah had to be sent the second time to the City of Nineveh to let them know that they have not repented from their sins. She who is your teacher, (Mary, who led her lamb to the slaughter when he followed her th school. It is said of her that her nakedness has been exposed, because of what her City has become and this is what Curtis Mayfield saw. The judgment is now upon those that remained un-repant of their sins, as written in Revelation 17-18 (Spirit of Truth) Bless.
