A guy like that often has all the BEST stories! No joke. Up until the mid 2000s there was a couple of ancient mechanics (in their 70s/80s - probably passed on by now) that me and my Dad always went to for car fixing and maintenance. Both of them would talk forever if you let them. Dad often didn't have the patience for more than about 10 minutes. But if I was by myself I'd let the old guys talk about whatever they wanted for as long as they wanted. Always entertaining. I just never took my car there if I was in a HURRY, that was all! 🤣

Just so you know, a submarine sonar usualy wouldn't make that, sound after all the whole idea behind a submarine is to stay unnoticed and collect information and using an active sonar (the sonar that makes that sound) would basically be announcing to everyone the exact location of the sub, so unless absolutely necessary they would use passive sonar and on an active one.
