Nice job George. The project turned out great. I like linseed oil as well, it really pops the grain and color tones. I have used a very small stationary drill and hand drill after I have marked the holes; it works well - use smallest bit you can use. On the handle strap for sheath, I have used quarter inch screw post from Hobby Lobby; this will allow you to pivot the strap- just use some blue loctite so it doesn't come apart. The character of the knife comes by using hand tools. Neat! Rog/Iowa

Wow George, that is a beautiful handle and sheath. Your handle design for the blade is perfect. The sheath with lighter and darker areas give it a richness. I tend to rush projects also, I'm trying to learn to slow down and take my time. Your hand work gives your projects a character not found in modern manufacturing. Take care.

Ahoy. Someone may already have suggested this but if you can't find an eyelet suitable for the thickness of leather you could use a piece brass tube instead. I'd glue it and flare the ends out to make sure it never popped back out, just the same way you'd put a lanyard tube on a handle.

beauty of a knife! I have crafted a few and made three of the same pattern then serial numbered them and gave them to my three best friends, but the agreement was that they had to use the knives and not save them. well 20 years past, none of the three friends ever used the knives cause they were too pretty ! knives are made to use, so I never made another knife.

Had both knees done on the same day, take your pain meds so you can do your therapy. You have to stay on top of the pain. You have to do the work and P.T. until the bones heal. I deer hunt and forage for mushrooms, that was my goals both require good knives. Opinel makes a No.8 hawk blade with a useful brush to clean mushrooms, and a cloth sheath. I never leave home without it.
