Nice update bro, the bench seat in the front is awesome w/ the storage, and smart idea putting the battery in the front.

1/2" ply, cut to fit (flip the boat over and use the seams), greatly sanded, 3 costs of exterior paint and then indoor/outdoor carpet glued with liquid nail, 3/4" pipe insulation around the edges.....easy! Took about 2 hours minus time for paint to dry

Shoe Goo I think it is called, may be an option for the glue problems. It holds really well and when it is dry it is there. Also wanted to ask, We have a lot of shoals areas on a local river and are looking to buy something to float it. In your open opinion do you think this boat could stand up to running up on moderate shoals occasionally?

How's it going. I got 3 question for yeah. 1- what size each of the floor is? 2- how did the project for the top of the motor mount? 3- what did you use from the trolling motor to the battery box at the front. Was it jumper cables?

Hey guys I thought we should have an official Facebook group to ask questions about the Intex Excursion 5 and to show/explain these types of mods. facebook.com/groups/excursion5. So far I've done trolling motor and bimini. Doing plywood floor this week (4x8 cut into 3 pieces 32" each X 36" width (before trimmed down). Will do seats shortly too (still deciding which ones).

Not sure about what not to do...hmmm....make sure you try to support the edges of the floor more for more stability. DO NOT walk on the boat uninflated, i got a hole that way. Make sure you support the floor where the two pieces meet. Any more specific questions just ask.

How would you compare the Intex Excursion 5 to the Intex Mariner 4? Is it worth the extra money to buy the Mariner? I am debating which one to buy for fishing. I plan on doing a lot of customizations and I will be putting a 3hp motor on it. Let me know your thoughts, Thanks!

buy the mariner 4.... MUCH more heavy duty construction and is 4 chambers... Plus the floor is key. You can actually stand in the mariner when you fish.

there are no exact measurements for the floor. of u use 1 sheet of plywood u will have a gap up front because the floor is about 8' 4" long and about 36 inches wide. I used 2 sheets so I covered the whole floor and put hinges to connect the 2 pieces

Now you just need to mount refrigerator, barbecue, 11 ft bed, 65 inch plasma tv, and a comfy seat with build in flushable toilet. You are crazy. This boat is literally a floating airbed. It is made of same thin material as these air beds. I hope you have a real boat by now. Building an island on top of an air madras that's a transport/assembly nightmare, and it is 100% unsafe.
