Great video Carl. Just 2 bits of advice, from an airframe mechanic. First, please don't mark your sheetmetal with your calipers, anytime you scratch the paint, you provide a path for corrosion. Second, before you cut out your notches that you marked, drill a #30-#20 (.125-.156) hole in the corners of your notch so you have a slight radius. This will aid in preventing a crack from forming in those corners.

Awesome. Thanks for the tips! I did paint these prior to install. Didn’t mention that.

Last year your videos helped convince me that I could actually do this pilot thing. Successfully soloed last weekend, and it was amazing. Next stop is the checkride! Thanks for sharing your journey!

We use one 1170 (larger heatsink) on our American Ranger AR-1 gyros and they're bright. LA Gyro has some videos of him landing at night and there isn't any problem seeing the runway.

They really are a great product. I kinda want to get the larger ones and mount them to the wings too!

Daytime landing for visibility! Especially for non towered fields IMO.
