CCC are sponsored by Giant and they use Giant’s own brand wheels like Sunweb last year. So it is the same 4-spoke as last year. Not sure on the disc, looks like a Pro disc, a 50mm lenticular type thing. Both could be a giant prototype though, they have the resources 🤷♂️

Improving the aerodynamics even on the smallest part and then team sky uses 3d printed brake leavers. Maybe they're very light but the holes can't be the best way in an aerodynamic point of view.

You can tell the print orientation of the Additive Manufactured (3D printed) brake levels from the poor surface on the downskin. The general rule of thumb: no angles above 60deg without adding support structures!

The bottle appears to be shielded well by the downtube on the pinarello so I'd imagine the gain (if there is any) from an aero bottle would be minimal, and maybe offset by the general finicky nature of them in use

what I'm wondering is do pro's use in certain circumstances tire sealant? Like last year Dumoulin lost a lot of time that wasn't needed in a flat stage. I know they ride tubes but in a flat stage, adding some sealant for extra safety can't hurt. Or in Paris Roubaix for example......

Interesting to see that however al lot of the new high end aero bikes for road racing are available with disc brakes only, but none of the TT bikes have disc brakes. Why is that you reckon? If the brakes that are integrated in the frame are more aero, why not use them on your aero road bike? Hard to performe maintenance? Sub par performance?
@Predator40k
5 жыл бұрын
A mixture of both I think. Two examples that spring to mind are the Venge Vias rim brake which Cavendish didn't want to ride and the first BMC TimeMachine Road which was barely used by the team at all.
@scottbreen6547
5 жыл бұрын
The demands of a TT bike compared to a road bike are very different. The TT bike is essentially required only to go fast as possible, they don't turn well, climb well, they are heavy etc., use of the brakes are minimal. No matter how good the brakes are, the rider would still have to spend a lot time to get out of aero bars just to reach the brake lever. Also I don't believe many wheel companies have developed disc brake TT wheels.
@chrispyy606060606
5 жыл бұрын
Disc brake bikes aren’t more aero than rim brakes and they’re heavier to boot. Also you barely need brakes in a TT...If you’re jamming the brakes and not smooth you will lose speed and time.
@flyingturtle4559
5 жыл бұрын
UCI only allows the integrated brake designs for TT bikes because the brake arms are so short that their stopping power is compromised. As the other commenters have pointed out TT is a discipline where the emphasis is on pure speed and the brakes are really just there to stop you after you've done the course.
