All I can say is WOW!!!!!!! Simply blown away by these two!!! They never RVed, sold their 5K square ft house, and dropped down to a mobile tiny home. The attention to detail and meticulous planning/engineering is unparalleled in the RV industry. I’d rather have one of these than a Spacecraft. And, not for having any slides, its not claustrophobic at all compared to the biggest Airstream…those things are claustrophobic!!! Great collaboration guys on well done video!!! 👍😃🍻🍷

Lovely space and well done but let’s be honest, it’s super easy to have the best of the best when you’re rich. They lived in a 5000+ sq foot house before this. I doubt money was an object. Not all of us would be able the import windows from Germany, install a stove that costs thousands and have things custom made. If money is no object, “no compromise” is easy to achieve. This was interesting but I’m going back to watch tiny house videos for us regular folks. I’ll leave this one to the rich elite.

Until I saw this video I can guarantee you I would never have owned a 5th wheel for a whole host of reasons, but this was really something else. Congrats on the build and I hope you get traction to be able to scale enough to have a reasonable level of long term service. One recommendation I would make on that if you haven't done it already is to commit to lifetime service support for both initial and future owners. So helpful on something full custom to have someone to call when you can't figure out a challenge.

I think there will definitely be a healthy market for this niche, for many reasons. Having an adult special needs son, whom we have chosen to keep with us in our retirement years, (as opposed to moving him into a “home”), has made us realize how “standard” and limited the “mass-produced” RV designs are, in their need to appeal to the masses. I love the idea of having a fully customizable high-end option available. However, my only concern is that the quality of a build can only be as good as the quality of the people doing the work on that build. This is where the current RV industry suffers the most. I hope as they start operations they will put as much emphasis(or more) on quality workmanship, quality inspections, and integrated systems testing throughout the build process as they do the brand/quality of the materials and components comprising the build.
@BarclayRV

@@garyvanhovgem7041 thank you for this detailed note and I would really like to work with you to understand the special requirements and then work on a design that would meet your family’s needs. As far as workmanship and craftsmanship is concerned I agree 100%. We spent the better part of a year searching for the right builder to work with and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that we have some of the best in the business. We spent over a month and a half on site with them inspecting work, understanding how they approach challenges, and just how they are as human beings. We could not be happier. Thank you again for your comment.

@@garyvanhovgem7041 Sounds good but with all those “along the way” inspections you are going to see an increase in cost. There isn’t anything like that in the RV industry because it is such an impractical idea. RV parks and any place people would want to see aren’t really set up for anyone beyond your typical traveler. Just trying to get things handicapped accessible was difficult enough. Trying to get any type of accommodation restructured so it can be used by anyone with special needs would most likely involve way more money than would be fiscally available. Besides trying to make accessibility easier are people going to have some way to get to the attraction? Trying to purchase a handicapped vehicle and an “all terrain” wheelchair (as an example) is enough to sink some people. So while your idea sounds great, it’s a chance somewhere between slim and none that it would happen!

We bought a Grand Design after researching. We have it on our lake front property when not traveling! Unfortunately I have had another stroke so we are not traveling as often! I love their bathrooms! Ours is between kitchen n bedroom! I had to laugh we you guys said don’t watch tv often! My husband turns ours in as soon as the catch of the day is cleaned! We have a 1 bedroom with tv sitting n the love sit turns into second bed! We love ours! No way we could drive the semi! We are 73 n 70! My husband loves to fish! Our son and daughter in law have a 1 bedroom and my daughter n son in law have 3 bedroom toy hauler! It is a dream to travel together and go see our great grandchildren! We took early retirement in 09 so we could enjoy our retirement and traveled extensively before Ronnie’s mom became so sick! I don’t care if I do anything but stay in camp and cook! To have our children with us in their own space is a dream come true! So we have a true caravan! This is astounding! But mine has to be 1 level! My vertigo is bad! My first stroke saw me trying to get mobile but my mind was basically out to lunch for 18 months! My second stroke was more severe and the vertigo n fainting are real issues! I have fallen perhaps 75-80 times! I wake up when I land! Ugh. But enough of that! I want to say I am amazed at your attention to detail! Truly innovative! And to have the luxury of someone with their knowledge to design with you! Kudos! I feel you have indeed changed the Rv world! And I loved my Grand Design! Snap!! I still do for us but never hurts to dream! Or does it? Ronnie said NO! 😂😂❤😂

Awesome! But to pluck this down, permanently, on a property, you will need to find a property that is truly “unrestricted”, or it needs to have the “Modular Seal Certification” for the state you are putting it in. I’m going through this right now. Many properties are listed as “unrestricted”, which may or may not mean that there is deed restrictions. HOWEVER, the building requirements are a different story. You need that Modular Seal for each specific state or it has to be open Contruction to be inspected. Having said the above, I absolutely love what they are doing!

Thank you for sharing with us that you had a 5000 sq ft home. Most people can barely make home payments and are often living in homemade huts or trailers - not for fun. But ya, ok. Be sure to volunteer with the homeless as you travel the world since you have so much free time and you don’t have much upkeep with your little home. Live simply so that others may simply live is a good model for you to slap on the back at your trailer. Work on humility. And have fun.

The under cabinet fridge is a clever idea. Then I thought hang on they have been installing these in the marine industry for years! I like the fact of no slideouts as this really seems to be the achillies heel of the current RV manufacturers. Maintenance and repairs always seems to include the slides for whatever reason? Although I do think a slideout on the frame you have may in fact be fine as the twisting and sagging is non exsistent in your frame. I don't want to sound like a "Debbie Downer", but I guess I'm simply more down to earth than what this layout and design displays. Off grid is wonderful, but do you really need a dishwasher, for example. Wood stove and open concept, I love it! But is it all electric otherwise, needing a charge station? However, the added space of slides is something that is worth the compromise, in my opinion. Storage is of upmost importance, and it seems to have very little, and climbing on a ladder to get a can of soup seems a bit off. Not to mention, for the average American income, can everyone truly afford a massive diesel truck to pull 24K lbs even if we could? But hey, we're all different, and I am happy for these owners/creators of this custom travel home!! The one thing I'll truly give 5 thumbs up on is the open patio doors, but nobody explained how that can travel with you (the patio itself).
@BarclayRV
9 ай бұрын
@chatiwag - thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment. As you mentioned, we are different and that is why a custom build lets each owner do their own thing. Having said that, you had a few questions I wanted to address. The dishwasher - true, most RV’s don’t have them, but they actually use less water (a scarce resource when boondocking)than doing dishes by hand. Appreciate that you liked the wood stove and the open concept. It has worked very well for us. I was not sure on the comment regarding charging station, but with our solar panels, we are completely off grid most of the time. We choose to stay in the mountains skiing all winter, otherwise we would be off grid then too. We don’t miss the slides and found most people that visit are surprised how roomy it is. Storage is super important, so we used every inch available. Again, with a custom design, you can ensure all your important stuff finds a home. The cost of the truck is often a misconception. First of all, you don’t need one as we design based on what you have or want, but the @switchitup even did a video earlier this summer on this topic sharing how total ownership cost can actually be a lot less than a traditional pickup. Again, not for everyone, but wanted you to understand the choice. So last but not least, it is our favorite too, the bifold window door entertainment wall, the patio stores on rollers underneath the trailer. Takes about 20 min to set it all up and it is a game changer. Thank you again for the comments and hope to see you on the road so you can check it out live. And we would love to design you one that fits you perfect.

In this particular design, because of the loft bed, we needed to maximize the interior height, thus the floor is below the top of the wheel wells. The decks are completely stored underneath. We have a large storage area under the goose neck. As we also have the HDT, it has a lot of storage. Having said all that, we will incorporate and make sure we have the right storage for what you need.

Love this! ❤ But you didn't talk about how the deck works. Does it fold up & go tight up against the glass wall/doors? Or does it drop down and slide under the floor? Is there any external storage bays? What is the white thing on the wall behind the dinette/lounge area near the ceiling? An A/C? If we win the lottery, we may be interested in becoming one of your 25 sales! 😂

Thank you for watching. Yes, the deck is in two sections. The 5' dection slides under neath and behind the wheels, the 8' section slides underneath and in front of the wheels. The whole set up takes 15-20 min tops. We could also do a more automated version that folds out with the push of a button. By not folding deck up, we retain the windows even when there it no room for deck or you want to go inside during a quick rest stop. In this particular design, there is storage under the gooseneck. As it is maximized to allow for the high ceilings and the loft, there is no underbelly storage in this design. We also have the HDT truck which has so much storage. The white object in the lounge area is the interior portion of the Mini-Split. It provides heat and A/C and is run by electric (220v)

Very high end! We have an apartment size fridge n freezer! I use my instant pot a great deal n our oven is mostly for garlic bread and the like but you most turn to keep things from burning! But bacon cooks great in it and eggs are a breeze on our stove! I have not done any baking will in it! So can’t talk to that! Yes your truck would hold any extra! Under our bed does and then the side to side double storage gives Ronnie his “garage” and allows for our outdoor chairs and table to come out and sit around the fire pit and watch tv on our outdoor electrical! But I would kill to have that sliding door! At home we have French doors from our dining to our outdoor kitchen and we leave them open most of the time! We have a great room and love it! So the Rv is for fun! I wish we were back in 09 and we would have driven instead of flying! You are giving us great dreams! 💚💚💚

I love watching videos like this. I want so many different tiny homes. Indigo homes that you can check out where there are loft bedrooms are standing bedrooms and then the living room and the kitchen is on the bottom floor. And there's one version they have that's three bedrooms. And all have standing room. My favorite of all time was one that was three bedroom and one and a half bath and a tiny home it was my very first time seeing that a tiny home could have two baths and now I've seen a lot of RVs including yours that has that.

Thank you. This design was made for a 1-ton dually, but we will design to fit any tow vehicle. Our choice of using an HDT, (which Julia drives with ease) was made because of safety, comfort, storage, and economics. It is not really different than a Class A and with amenities in the cab gives you the best of both worlds. All that said, can't wait for the all electric tow vehicle with self driving capability ☺. Thanks for your comment

I loved your joke, 25 committed contracts at $350,000 each and you get a freebie. Very funny! But also very tempting. 😂 This election year, 64 is creeping up on me, and my window of opportunity is closing fast considering the harsh economic climate. At this point, my 4,000 sq ft $1M home sitting on 2 acres would be very hard to sell, and I'm not interested in lowering the price like my neighbor did, finalizing his sale at $777,000, but only profiting $300,000. My wife is also begging me we move to a condominium. It is very tempting indeed, but to get the (edited) semi truck would be another hurdle to jump, plus repair and maintenance costs. It definitely is a totally different concept and experience, but I am watching how others such as yourself are doing it, and this video definitely is a game changer. It is possible to live the RV lifestyle with all the necessary amenities as long as there is money in the bank. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks for watching and your comments. Our experience with the semi tractor have resulted in very low maintenance costs. Also, safety, comfort, storage, and overall economic cost (buy, maintain, sell) is a huge advantage. Having said that, a semi tractor is not needed and we will design based on what you have or want to tow with. Lastly, as was mentioned in the video, being able to enjoy this lifestyle for some years and then put it on a piece land as a main or access dwelling (where allowed) is a nice option.

Loved the showing of your home. Thanks. I'm not done watching but 3/4 the way through. Haven't heard any costs so far. I already know that it's WAY out of my price range. That said, I have live with my best friend of 35 yrs in a small 2 bdrm apt for 12 yrs now and we both would love to travel and see some of those great memory spots from childhood. We haven't seen any that could accommodate us. For instance ...we would really love to have 2 berms but can have 1 LG bedroom. Another is we don't want stairs due to our knees are getting old. Would love to live and drive in the same space too. Don't really want to have a separate car to pull it. I figure this home would be in the million dollar range with that truck and all. This home is definatly for the well off. It's funny to think that " Tiny homes use to be for poor folk who couldn't really afford or didn't want to live in the city and or commute around either and now we got Rich folk moving into our groove and now the price of these kinds ( tiny homes) are ski high in price. Anything that has the words " tiny" home in it will cost you too. So much for us retirees, now we can't even afford to go with less. It has gotten out of line as of late too. The thought is there but the cost is nuts. Half or more than half can't be insured the way you want and the parts usually have to say for motor homes on the lable so the price goes up. It's as if it's a monopoly or something. All my friend and I want is a smaller mother home so we can visit our places before we die. Our husband's have already passed away so why not. Thanks again for showing us you gorgeous castle of a home. A home that's only in our dreams.

I would suggest total cost ownership for an HDT is significantly less than a one ton. Plus add safety, comfort, storage, and capacity and it can be a very good choice. Not for everyone but definitely an option. Parking and access has not been an issue and we have been full time over 3.5 years.

Stairs are exactly what elderly people need to remain healthy and be moving. Movement is life! I am 64. I still do sprints and can do 100 pushups at a time. It’s a mindset. Yes I have arthritis and broken neck and all the stuff but it really helps to start with baby steps literally and move. Use your muscles and take the stairs on purpose and be animated. I worked in a nursing home when I was in my 20s I saw what happens when people stop moving. Do it even if it hurts. It will extend your life and strengthen your body and mind.
