Working at a dealer, specifically parts, sometimes the warranty companies will deny any job that would be done right and pick and choose ONLY what needs to be replaced. A lot of dealerships suck, and so do mechanics partnered with them. I had a turbo issue (obd reader picked up turbo sensor error codes) Went to a dealership, they changed all four of my injectors for some f* reason, car had the same problems. Went to a second one for a quote and they wanted a 150$ fee to “diagnose the issue” and then “at least 500$ to take down the turbo and service it”. Told them no. went to an indipendent mechanic, the issue was a small tube under the engine, the turbo vacuum pressure depression tube. It had a tear in it. Fixed it in no time

The shitty thing is that the third party warranty is gonna insist he go back to the shop that did the work. My company requires a minimum 12/12 warranty on all parts and labor and we will always hold that shop responsible, because we don't like paying for things twice. Although, them screwing the company over so bad may change that. I would have the customer call into the customer service line, explain your findings, and have THEM advise on what needs to be done. This should've had an engine replaced from the beginning. Anything 90k and over will automatically get an engine with my company, since it's ALWAYS cheaper to R&R the engine vs rebuilding it. Plus, there's less liability/room for error.

I work as a service advisor at a VW dealership and this sounds like straight up warranty fraud. Weve gotten a few customers in the past with similar stories that finally just come to us cause the ford or Subaru dealer they bought a used VW and extended warranty from has had their car 6 times in the last 3 months and it still isnt fixed, but when i look at the paper work, just like this jeep in the video, NOTHING adds up or makes sense. Thousands of dollars in "wire repairs" or "engine overhaul" or whatever BS they come up with and the car is just straight up broken. The other thing we see a lot is dealers (including some other VW dealers) trying to use the TDI (dieselgate) warranty extension to cover things that arent covered or in a couple rare cases things that they broke or replaced without needing to and they dont want to take the loss. Shits wild.

Fix it and sell it asap. I had a 2015 Grand Cherokee 3.6 V6 with misfire issues and no check engine light. Replaced all spark plugs and the ignition coil for cylinder 3. That fixed the misfires, but then I heard the infamous pentistar tick, this means that the needle bearing for 1 or more rockers had failed. This means that it likely chewed into my intake or exhaust cam. At this point the car was running well enough with no check engine lights. I sold that thing so fast. Oh and this all happened at 85,000 miles with an engine that was maintained regularly.

My recent Toyota issue was my keyless entry not working. Their first solution was 2 new remotes; as if they failed both at the same time. The car would start by holding the fob to the start button; so the keys were fine. They kept my car for 3 days, testing all sorts of dumb stuff, like throwing water over the car, changing door handles (wth?), and then ultimately they wanted to change the entire computer. I told them several times it was very likely the receiver in the car; everything works except the car not receiving signals. They even went ahead and replaced the keys, which was a pain to program cause the car barely received signals. Well d'oh. So I went to a scrapyard, took the receiver from a similar car and plugged it in; everything back to normal. It took me less than an hour to remove the panels and test the receiver, including the 45 minute drive to the scrapyard. They had it for 3 days and wanted to replace the entire car but the receiver. I've never had a Toyota mechanic solve a problem. They have their checklist, if it's not on there they'll never know. Even if you tell them.

It should be pointed out that all this BS was done by the service department of a dealership. It's not Toyota itself. F the dealerships.

Doesn’t Toyota have the right to discontinue the relationship? They issue the license for them to sell their products and provide warranty services.

@@russbusss Not entirely sure, but I would assume so. It is their product and reputation being put on the line.

@@Spectre94951 yeah there are standards and policies that they have to abide by in order to do so. I’m not familiar with Toyota but every dealership I’ve worked at, the manufacturer has the right to pull the license if they’re getting too many complaints, they can also audit the books

0W20 is for the 4cyl Tigershark engine that Jeep uses. This dealership is scamming customers and this is fraud.

I don't get why people rebuild half a engine let alone a head gasket when it's cheaper or same price for a new motor. I did a land river headgaskets and timing assembly on a land rover. We charged over 10k and he could've got a new engine for probably 5k or even if it was closer to 10 you got a brand new engine. Like come on people 😂 go new! Not waste a mechanics time coming back

Soft top that's a lawsuit and fraud and definitely file a complaint not only with the Better Business Bureau but with the state and label the company for doing fraudulent activity. Also the third party warranty company will definitely back this person for these actions because if they're doing this to one person at this location that means the third party warranty company is out of much more money because there will be signs that other customers we're also done wrong in this situation and the company paid out more money than they should have regardless of the work being done at the dealership which we all know charges more money just because of the label not particularly because of the job they do.

Before I forget, there is 0% chance im driving a car for 100 miles after I do a head gasket. Unless the customer is going to pay me for all that drive time, which I doubt.

My cousins car been at a Toyota dealership for 6 months now waiting for a “compression test” took 2 months for them to figure out cylinder 4 was gone literally told them that yet they said it was the head and bent valve only reason it’s there is cause of warranty otherwise I wouldn’t fixed that for him in a day 😂

Just one coil pack for my 04 kia costs 300. Because its a special coil. Dual coil in one. Driver side only. The other side is wire ran to the passanger side.

I would have bought anything else, except a used Jeep, and would have had about eight to nine grand for repairs . . .

I got screwed from an ex family mechanic. I lost my Tundra from it due to sinking to much into a repair vs a new engine. I miss that truck...

My roommate is going through the same thing rn but he’s under finance, he put 10k down owes 5k and his car just randomly dies and all electric is fine in terms of dealership checking but they told him if he’s unhappy he can put him into another car but mark this one as a repo so they aren’t out the money selling a lemon and I’m just like no bro sue them
