As someone who wants to get into making and bedazzling their own dress, this was very informative and really helped get things into perspective. The comparison of what it would cost to have someone else do it was also very helpful. Thank you!!

OMG... what? I loved it! I checked the dresses, and we can do so much ourselves and have my girls help with their own dress. They learn and have fun at the same time. Great skills you have been teaching us (sewing and beading). Thank you coach Julia. ❤

So glad you liked the video! I love when a dress design complements the music and so that is a really big creative outlet for me.

I would love to see a video about how to get started if you’ve never done it before. Maybe with some smaller projects like gloves or something. Also curious where you buy crystals, etc

Pretty sure I’m never gonna be wearing a dress since I’m male… But yeah, for my very first comp that I had last week, I stoned a soccer jersey (since the music was soccer themed) following your past video on applying stones. Funny story on this little journey…When I told coach about my plan, she laughed imagining me doing the stone work. Heck, it looks like there was a little bet going around between the coaches (speed skating coaches included) whether “the weird old guy” was really gonna do it. When I first showed up in my jersey without the stones yet, a speed skating coach came up to me and said she was expecting to see stones…😂 2 days before comp, I sat down at the kitchen table in the evening with my kid and did about a 2 hours’ work and the result wasn’t too shabby. But really, the quality time with my kid was a special one. ❤ Comp day, I lost 2 stones. (Out of around 150) Not bad for my first work. Especially compared to my kid’s dress (bought from a shop) where her stones were coming off all over the house. My only regret is that I didn’t think of doing stones for her dress when she had her comp. Anyways, coach seemed to like the results. (though more likely she was just being nice) Looking at the video, I think I should do more stones, bigger ones, for my next comp in a few weeks…

Fellow adult skater - thanks for sharing this story! I'm wondering how many stones come off on the ice (not directed at you personally, but in general).

@b.reamsnider1328 Fortunately, not that often. It is usually as the skater is putting on or taking off the outfit that the stones come off.

@yjchoi17 Maybe next 'glow up' stoning video will have to be a guy's outfit. lol. What a fun story though. Thanks for sharing.

Great video! But how many hours did you take gluing all those stones?

Would you be able to do a video on confidence issues or mental blocks? It's not really something that can be fixed with a KZitem video or by anyone other than the skater themselves, I suppose, but there are so many skills that I struggle with, or have struggled with in the past, not for any technical reason, but because I don't trust myself and then my body doesn't trust itself and I choke up. Ice hurts, and I'm not a kid anymore that can just bounce across the ice without abandon. How do you come to trust yourself to try new things, and how do you get your skaters that might be struggling to have that confidence in themselves and push past their comfort zone?

I wonder if there’s a good way to work with ruched/pleated fabric when applying rhinestones? I find it difficult to have them lay secure and flat and always ended up getting extra glue on other places of the fabric😢

Where do you get the crystals and the glue? What type of glue is it?
