Thanks to your water slide decal tutorials, I managed to get some good results in creating custom dial. I could not get Micro sol and Micro set in Singapore but found that Mr. Mark Setter and Softer works well too.

for a one off dial i made, i used a custom ordered dry rub transfers printed in white to be put on a black dial. Once the dial was painted black with black lacquer, i applied the rub on transfer, then carefully airbrused clear lacquer over it in light coats to prevent lifting, wet sanded smooth and applied a matte clear lacquer of that. At that point i hand painted lume on the indices and it came out awesome. I found that to be time consuming but well worth the effort.

a good process sounds like. I would also have to go to an external provider to print white, but I'm sure it works well.

Could you tell us where you got the transfers printed and you got the dials from?

@@WatchComplications where do you get all the various dials from? The look to be in a decent quality and without too much on them so that they could still be personalised a little. Also, can you recommend a vendor of mvoements like TC, Sellica or other not too expensive yet still decent movements?

variety of places depending on the situation, distributors like ofrei and esslinger, other distribution sites, sometimes ebay or etsy. Movements come from similar places or sometime startime which is specifically for wholesale and makers.

model builders always spray the base with a gloss and apply the decals on that. Makes a better ahdhesion and appearance. once the decal is set they will go over it with the micro set and micro sol, followed by a uniform coat of matte clear. This would also apply to matte dials.. spray them with gloss first apply the decal, then seal and final matte coat it.

I'm really digging these videos. I was thinking of making a watch on my own but it looks like a lot of work. Also, are you going to show to make and do applied indices? thanks!

it is a lot of work and takes the right tools, but like most things you can start simple with basic assembly of premade parts, like the dial, and then go from there. I don’t recommend starting with making a custom dial. Mess with some premade ones first.

Hi Bryan! Great video, loved it! I’m Italy based and I can’t find sunnyscopa film free decal, do you know if there are other brand that makes a film free decal paper? Thanks!

Hey, thanks for watching. There are other brands out there, but I'd have to look to know for sure. I'd look at "similar products" on Amazon that might deliver to Europe.

@@WatchComplications thanks for the quick reply! I have tried to look with the similar on Amazon but they all seem to have clear film on top.
