I often get asked about what I do with my cake scraps. This is what I do for fun with my littles when I’m done with busy weeks. We make cakesicles and have fun decorating them.
Recipe:
2 cups chocolate cake scraps
1/4 cup chocolate ganache
(Ganache is 1:1 Ghirardelli chocolate and heavy cream)
Mix well, place firmly in popsicle mold, add sticks, press firmly again, freeze for 20 minutes. While the cake pops chill in freezer prep your chocolate. I used Wilton chocolate melts and just melted on 20 second increments, gently mixing between each. Once completely melted I let come to room temp and dip each of my cakesicles. I gently dip, removing excess chocolate and placing onto parchment paper to firm up. After I’m done dipping I cut Wilton melts into little triangles (be very careful doing this so you don’t cut yourself!!) Take a little chocolate and place the ears. Placing your choice of chocolate in a piping bag carefully pipe to look like chocolate sauce on ice cream, add sprinkles and if you have black edible paint you can paint on the eyes and nose. Enjoy!!!
