Lots of ordinary Earth rocks will attract a strong magnet. Despite what you might have seen on TV, the so called 'magnet test' is a very poor first test for a rock. Your largest rock is most likely slag, the leftovers from converting ore to metal.

I think tripod tripod tripod oh yeah I think getting a tripod would be massively beneficial then we can actually see for more than a split second what it is we're looking at and focus and detail I would pause the video and some stills and then it might be more possible to give a realistic opinion. but I'm sure you'll do better on the next one so we'll see you there

1:27 in the video. If you expose the metal in the iron meteorites and polish then give them an acid bath you will quickely discover if they are meteorites if it exposes a geometric pattern in the polished metal. Its called a Widmanstätten pattern. Nitric Acid is the way to go for the acid.
@randomland9088
2 жыл бұрын
@@truthseekercanada Thankyou I didn't even think about the whole acid treatment that brings out the fractal pattern! I was a little disappoint to see what didn't even appear to be metallic inside, it was just blackish grey. I will actually be buying a gopro today hopefully so I can finally make a follow up!

Meatorites are mostly iron. Everything else burns up in the atmosphere
@truthseekercanada
2 жыл бұрын
Nope...there are 3 types of meteorite and one is almost entirely stone and it is the most common. Stony iron and iron are the other two...with a bunch of subtypes for each. Meteorites will "air brake" on their way through the atmosphere. Depending on angle of enterance to the atmosphere and other factors meteorites can hit the ground at 300mph. If you check out Palisites, sometines they even come in slowly enough that the relarively delicate Peridot crystals surive intact.

Not true the one that landed down my block was hardly magnetic at all and left a pretty big crater. It’s the speed they fall; any meteorite can do damage. kzitem.infoXKwUkGqiltA?feature=share

@@truthseekercanada check out the meteorite that landed down my block in the 1990’s took me almost 10 years to collect all the peices it was moving so fast it didn’t even make a sonic boom. Looked like a flash of orange lightning. It is hardly magnetic at all except for the face and back which are extremely attracted to a magnet. Though I keep magnets away bc it is extremely delicate. kzitem.infoXKwUkGqiltA?feature=share

Not always. The non-iron parts tend to burn off first but doesn't always burn up entirely. Some stony meteorites contain little iron but some still survive.
