How do you cut with a Flow water jet (sometimes referred to as a water cutter ) and how does it work? it is actually quite simple in principle and in this video i will show you the waterjet in operation as well as a few basics with the machine.
this machine will cut in half anything you put in front of it!
the waterjet is a work horse of a machine in our shop. it is slower than a laser but it does not leave heat affected areas on the material and ANY material can be cut on it, not just a few metals. it is also slower than a plasma but it is so much more accurate...almost as much as a laser.
waterjet cutting or waterjet machining is fascinating as you dont expect water to have such power. as far as material that it can cut....all of them! here is a list of a few materials i have successfully cut on the waterjet:
steel (of course)
aluminum (of course)
glass
wood
plywood
rubber
plastics
fiberglass
bronze
brass
copper
foam
carbide (YES carbide, its slow but it will cut it)
