We don't have Pecan trees up this way. I don't think I've ever seen a tree peel quite like that. .....I would write a few more comments but I've got to pick up the popcorn I spilled all over the couch. 🤣 Thanks for sharing and keep yourselves safe! 😃👍❤🌲 Randy

I love peel cutting maneuvers very good way to doge stuff without rigging but you got to be careful when really close to a structure that when it hits tip first the butt end doesn’t kick back into something great video very cool 👍

I reckon you would produce a superb arborists manual August. I mean a “guide to” kinda thing. Has the thought ever crossed your mind? I for one have utilised much of your advice and techniques for cutting in my day to day work.

I imagine that beaver pelt saddle brought in a pretty dollar amount. That was artistically a pure beauty of a beast that was more than likely a better winter harness than for a 4 season saddle,at least in Colorado that would be extremely overly warmish in the summertime. Considering how I do most of my tree work is in the birthday suit at nighttime. Because it’s way too hot during the daytime. Nonetheless I’m sure someone will cherish it as most of us would have. My petzl saddle is about aged out for wear so I’m hoping to put in a order here in about a few weeks to a month.

I always wondered why people beat on wedges when you could just cut the face a bit deeper. That wood is tough and stringy! Analytics review…😅

Company policy to not have a notch deeper than 1/3 of the diameter sometimes. Source: work for a Davey company
@wrstew1272

@@nightfighter7452 I understand that if your company requires that, but in my yard…I would only wedge to guide the fall, or rope it and pull or winch to save pounding on wedges. At 72 it’s smart and easy rather than insurance issues 🤫. Hammering is for nails, and mostly screws are quicker and hold what I do. And iffn I were to build a big project, nail guns rule !

Haha! I was just sat here watching and thinking dude I wish somebody would ask me to cut a pecan...and then you said keep a straight piece for bow making...couldn't believe it :) I've been a professional bowyer for about 15 years but I'd had enough of it as a job so have just got my climbing tickets :) Funny old world!
