Metalworking tips - You can use Deburring Tool to smooth the cut and clean it (some sanding paper also does the trick but needs more work and creates dust that needs cleaning) Optional: -You can use Center Punches for marking screw holes for accuracy -Photocopy the exhaust to use it as template and glue it where you want to cut (rice-paper if you want it to be semi-transparent) and please, please always use protection gear for your eyes (at least) cause grinder discs do break and you dont want that piece end in your eye (got an one eye pirate-look-like colleague that is not a very happy guy anymore)

@MaavBR
2 жыл бұрын
I'm from Brazil, and I'm at the "an arm and a leg" gang... I saw the product and legit wanted one of their plates+fan+controller combo for my HTPC cabinet :( Chose the Airplate S7, tried their website, and boom, 97USD shipping for a 40USD product. Amazon charges me $70 for shipping AND import duties, which is still a hefty cost, but probably worth it given that it's a product that doesn't exist in the domestic market (and their fans are tuned for 5V, which means I can power them from the USB port in my HTPC)

So cool that i have this NZXT H510 case for my 1st build. It has so many great reviews on Amazon, that I didn't initially know about the airflow issue. I wanted to exchange it for the better airflow upgraded ones, but I've already disposed of the box....which I normally never do!! I also have a DeWalt cutting wheel. I thought about this type of mod, but hadn't researched grills to use in the cutouts. Plus the idea of cutting into a brand new case for my 1st build seemed like a bad one. I was able to get a 240mm Kraken x53 rad on the top of the case by removing the LED strip that goes across the top and placing the grill off center where the rad cleared the memory modules and heatsinks for the VRMs on the MOBO. As long as you dont mind the rad being held in place by 4 screws on one of the fan mounts it works

They get alot of crap but they really aren't that bad. For a 70 dollar case as long as you aren't putting super high TDP stuff then it really it isn't going to choke anything as long as you leave it as only exhaust fans. Gamers nexus even showed un there h500 review that in comparison to other cases it wasn't that much worse or louder. So for 70 bucks you get a case that can very easily handle say a 3060 and a i5 or R5 cpu that still looks very modern and sleek. I know this because the PC I built for my GF has a bare bones EVGA 3060 and a 3600 with a stock cooler and her temps are great.

They actually look pretty nice. (Though I am a little worried about rattle.) So not only does the case work better, but it looks better too. Me, I have the opposite problem. I still occasionally have a client request a CD burn. (Because networks are just so hard... And an extra five bucks for a USB stick so expensive. :-\ ) And I have yet to find an external drive that isn't a cheap piece of crap that only lasts a few burns before something goes wrong with it. So I still reuse an OLD case because it has these amazing things called 5.25" bays. I need a case-mod kit to freaking add a 5.25" bay to these modern cases. Ah yes, my case! I love the way it looks but ya, it's got some air flow problems. As long as I open it up and keep it very clean it does a good job (even with the window off an open I don't get any difference in temps). it's very picky about dust building up on the side holes/filter thingy- does good when clean, not so good when dirty- I suspect they never let dust build up when designing it so it was never a problem they ran into. This is EXACTLY the mod I've wanted to do for a long time but it's just not worth taking my whole rig apart for- keeping it clean keeps it performing well. My temps are pretty good, considering I'm delidded /LMed/Lapped IHS with quite a hefty OC. I'm probably going to use the same case for my next build and this is exactly what I'll do before putting the guts into it if I go that route! I do have a push pull setup on my radiator in this case too- you can do that. There's only about a Centimeter of space between the push fans and the front of the case, but I tested with them and without them- I got better temps with them despite the small amount of clearance so I went with it- I really did not expect there to be enough clearance but it works better than without so I keep them in there.
