One tip that I picked up a few months ago from AfrikanHairGod and NaturalAcacademia is spending time to smooth the oil/product into your hair strands. I can see your cousin uses a similar technique. I have 4c hair and this has been a game changer in that my hair actually soaks in the product and I barely have any tangles. My hair is soft, hydrated, and I only need to reapply the product weekly. I know this isn't the traditional approach but I oil my scalp with sulfur 8. And I use a mix of one of the Blue Magic creamy leave-ins, a blue magic grease, and a few drops of grape seed oil. My hair is oily at first, but the product soaks in by the next day, and then I'm good to go for the week.

@BrownGalPeace1
Жыл бұрын
@@iniememokure2799 I use henna powder and mix it with other ingredients to promote hair growth. Curly Proverbz henna or her henna and aloe mask are great options. I usually use 3 tsp of powder with warm distilled water or aloe vera juice as it reads on the directions on the back of the package. I also add 1 tsp of fenugreek powder and 2 tsp of amla powder to it. (Sometimes I add rosemary and peppermint essential oil to the bowl, but it’s optional.) Mix it until it makes a paste. Then I add the paste to a moisturizing deep conditioner as she instructs. The deep conditioners I use varies depending on what I have on hand.. but I usually use the Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration Hair Mask. I let the mixture sit for 2 to 3 hrs in a covered bowl. Then with gloves.. I apply the henna paste from roots to tips while sectioning the hair and using hair clips. I put a thick layer on all over my hair. Then I cover my head with a shower cap. I let it sit on my hair for 2 to 3 hours. Then I wash it out. I do not do this treatment weekly. I find that doing this treatment monthly or even quarterly does suffice and gives great results. I hope this helps! ☺️

While I am aware genetics play a role in hair, I am convinced that everyone with ridiculously long hair has to work at it. Period. There’s no way around it. Like everything else in life, if you want long hair, you have to be committed to the process.

Her hair grew effortlessly at a ridiculous rate lol but as for me, my hair has always grown slow until I discovered the natural hair women of KZitem who "do the most" and have long hair. Particularly CP and Selina Zinchuk. I combined nuggets from both of their channels and fell in line with being committed to my hair growth and I've retained 3 inches in 3.5 months. No lie. I also have dry scalp, I'm wondering if I do start oiling my hair like they talked about in this video if it'd help my dry scalp.

@@mysticthehorselover5979 it probably would. If slapping grease (Blue magic to be exact) almost instantly stopped my scalp from itching due to dryness, I would think regular oiling throughout the week should fix it. I think you and your cousin are absolutely right about oiling your hair. I remember back when I was a kid in the 70s, my aunt used to oil, then massage our scalps (my sister and I) every week with royal crown hair grease and Sulfur 8. I have 4C hair and that really helped to keep it healthy and free of breakage. Just about every kid in my neighborhood got their scalp oiled and massaged. I had forgotten about that for years until I saw one of your videos on the benefits of using oils. For the coconut oil, I'm going to try the suggestion of warming first. It sounds like coconut oil may be similar to honey in that the properties change when it's warmed, versus cool or room temperature.

You can use fractionated coconut oil. I used to use tons of coconut oil on my hair and scalp but at some point it just stopped working, it would dry my strands out like crazy. I did some research and it seems like the culprit would be the amount of lauric acid in coconut oil. There's none (or not much left) in fractionated coconut oil. So you can get the same results without the drying out 😊

My hair doesn’t like coconut oil even products that contains it my hair doesn’t work well with them, I tried so many oils and for some reason my hair does much better without oiling as oiling makes my hair dry even if I left it for 1 day and my scalp gets itchy, I tried all oils out there organic ones, Jamaican black castor oil, almond, you name it I tried it, as they say get to know your hair and do what your hair likes not what works for others. Since I followed that advice my hair grows much healthier and thicker then before even though I was oiling a lot before, but my hair wasn’t this thick and healthy..

@@DWOOP That's exactly who immediately came to mind. Indigenous Strandz is the truth. I enjoyed following her for a while. She's got some great content. Yes, last I checked her old videos were still up. But there are a few other Black women as well that I stumbled upon. Not knee length, but tailbone length hair which is quite an impressive achievement. 🙌🏾 If I can find them again I'll come back and post them here.

@@DWOOP Hi Charmaine. Interesting that you replied to @Auchie with Indigenous Strand's name. I was just looking at her channel earlier today to see if she's uploaded any recent content.

After you shampoo, when do you repeat the oiling. The next day?
@TracyD2
Жыл бұрын
No not the next day. I believe she oils hair leaves it in for 2 days washes it on the 3rd day then 4the day nothing 5th day oils hair leaves it in for day 6, 7 etc.. I think I followed that correctly. That’s a lot in my opinion. It’s obviously working for her but my scalp would get irritated. Personally once a week should suffice and leaving oil in for a couple of hours before shampooing.

Now that I think about it, I had my strongest and longest hair when I was using coconut oil as my weekly prepoo... I'm adding it to my grocery list right now.

I have definitely had major length growth since I have followed curly proverbz and use my go to henna mask and infused oils but my hair hasn't gotten any thicker. My hair has always been on the thin and fine side but is there anything that will thicken my hair?

@curlyproverbz did she say olive and coconut mix or olive first then coconut oil? My best friend introduced me to your channel she is African American like me and her hair is but length. I love your methods. She also uses oiling you all might be on to something.

I like using coconut oil and fenugreek blend in the spring and summer I love the smell now I do have a tendency to use a little more because my hair is of a higher porosity and it drinks oils and moisturizer like a camel

Would the messaging part work with a head messager instead of just using your hands? Cuz messaging for 30 mins seems so long and my hands be getting numb from just messaging for 2 minutes 😂

A massager would work on your scalp however for your strands I don't think that would be effective.

A lot of you all have very little hope & you should really raise your hope. Yes everyone’s hair is different but it still can grow. Some grow faster and some slower but it still can grow. Start by trimming your ends no matter how short you have to go. After that, take time with your hair. Get to know it. I’m natural but my hair grows better by keeping it straight. It’s convenient for me & I’ve done this my entire life. I can get oil on my hair better with it being straight. I’m black & the only time my hair was horrible was when I had lupus. I’m working on thickening my hair back. Black girls (all girls) you can grow your hair. I’ve been following this channel for awhile & I have only done two things from this channel & I wasn’t even consistent (I don’t advise this. My life was difficult) & I still got results. Don’t give up! Black is only your beautiful color, it’s not a curse. You can do this, it’s in you. Also…I noticed another difference when I started adding green foods. Every living being needs two or more cups a day of leafy greens…kale, spinach, lettuce, cabbage, collards and more. Eat them raw if you can. If your life is full then juice them. I have spinach daily because it’s the easiest one & I’m always in a hurry. Anyway ❤️’s, don’t give up! Do it! I’m Chonda Fisher on fb & instagram if you guys want to see pics of my hair. ❤❤

Can we brush curly hair with a boar bristle brush. I'm in a group that says you should not brush your hair with a boar bristle brush. Will it damage the hair or cause breakage? Or is it good for our hair?
