Finally something I understand, trucking up a loading unit. It's the same thing in the mines. You want one truck loading and no more than one truck waiting. Any more trucks lined up are a waste of money, and it's a real waste to have the chopper waiting for a truck. Your operation seems to have this down very well.
@aaronzenner9888
9 жыл бұрын
B Laquisha yes, we do our best to keep everybody moving, and keep the flow of trucks as steady as possible, it keeps everybody busy, and the guys in the dozer tractors don't get a sudden slug of trucks, then have a pause with no trucks for 20 minutes.

I apologize if this is a stupid question but what is in the tank that the Claas Jaguar is pulling? I have never seen that before.
@aaronzenner9888
9 жыл бұрын
ImaWreckingBa11 The tanks are for water. When the hay gets below 55% moisture, it gums up in the spout and can cause it to plug, so in those cases we spray a little bit of water on the hay to help lubricate it and flow through better

+Andy Hass Yeah, its pretty crazy, having four mergers in one field, they can really zip across a quarter section in a big hurry! Our may mowers have the tine conditioners on them versus the rubber rollers, and I think they beat the hay up too much.
@samneyer8215
8 жыл бұрын
You guys should try a pottinger novacat s12. It's bigger(35ft.) than the ones you have now and has no conditioner on it. We custom chop about 10,000 acres and it works great for chopping!

@FendtMF
8 жыл бұрын
+John Deere 6830 fan It's not grass though, its alfalfa! It doesn't grow as tall as grass, but it is just as thick if not thicker. Plus it also has more nutrients than grass!
@FendtMF
8 жыл бұрын
+Countryguy Also each mower is most likely 30 ft, which would mean its more like 120 ft!
@JohnDeerefan-fo1qp
8 жыл бұрын
+Countryguy more expensive to grow it too though, here in Ireland twenty foot rows would be as heavy as that row the harvester is taking at 03:19! up to nearly 16 tonne per acre OF a good year.
@FendtMF
8 жыл бұрын
+John Deere 6830 fan I get that its high yielding grass, however, the point of alfalfa is the quality. Alfalfa will always be a better feed for dairy cattle because of its much higher nutritional levels. Therefore, a farmer can get the same amount of nutrition out of a smaller amount of hay, which allows easier storage and feeding. Plus this probably 2nd cut, which is gonna yield less anyway.
