Repair on the new Gen 2 motor, similar issues with spinning magnets as gen 1. Complete take down guide and parts swap. www.djoccult.com streamlabs.com...
I couldn't help but feel my smoke detector needed a battery while watching this.

What rips the magnets off is yes the motor is very powerful because the stator pulls on the fixed magnets so hard that when it is running at high RPM the magnets are trying to sling off on top of that the stator is pulling on them extremely hard to keep the torque going and in combination with the heat as well it could end up actually ripping the magnets loose, it's not because of rubbing but because of the forces like centrifugal force on the magnets the heat loosening the glue and the stator pulling on them additionally causes them to rip loose

Yup but also as he said, if the rotor isn't perfectly balanced that will also contribute to the detachment of magnets at high rpms.

I know sometimes you have to use a mallet, but there is a few occasions where a puller and press would be more suitable. You have a $1000 motor being whacked with a hammer and chisel, had that been my motor, and I seen this, I would not be impressed.

if you mount a new rotor, you also use a new bearing!

Hi, just wondering what would you recommend BBSHD or CYC?🤙🏾
@djoccult
3 жыл бұрын
For more practical application and available parts, the BBSHD. For more power output, the CYC.
@milesfozznick
Жыл бұрын
Well in my opinion I have had both and I really prefer the cyc better, overall better construction and design, you can see yourself that it is designed to use the power more efficiently the casing is made from solid pieces of metal rather than stamped out steel and poured aluminum on the HD, the cyc is more costly but also far more powerful, I guess it depends really on your budget and how much power you want to get out of it the HD is also a nice motor but of course for a different budget range, considering how much the HD costs it is a good motor but for the price difference they both show their strengths and weaknesses but if you got the money I would prefer the cyc myself

This is not the latest CYC rotor... the latest rotor has slots for the magnets. You can check on their website or ask them for picture.

Shouldn't you be using loc-tite instead of grease when installing the final piece? Won't the Sprag Clutch (bearing) slip inside the case when under torque?
@djoccult

No it uses a keyway and it is not a clutch its a gear reduction.

But that's a pretty brutal kind of repair, professional would be different. For example, you pull bearings with a simple bearing puller, they only cost a few dollars ... He takes a hammer and a large iron and hits it ... Hey, that's a motor that rotates at 9,000 rpm, so please work as gently as possible! Hare Krishna!

Where in this motor would you apply a bearing puller? I own all the bearing pullers made, automotive and WMFG pro bearing press and pullers, none would be applicable anywhere on this motor.

@@djoccult Hi, the bearing you are removing at 1:45 with a hammer, its the motor rotor bearing, google wiper arm puller, if you use this it will take 2 seconds to remove that bearing, i use this and have done it many times on my motor and a few others i have rebuilt, you are also taking apart the motor from the wrong side, if you remove the gearbox from the motor housing first you dont need to bash the crap out of it, i'm thinking of posting a video of the correct way to do this, i will send you a link when i do, then maybe you might learn how to do it without using hammers..

That to me doesn't look like the Gen 2 rotor, the Gen 2 is supposed to have the magnets mechanically retained not glued - kzitem.info/news/bejne/x32mqnh_jICSiWk
