Apologies that part of this video is blurry. I have no idea why, but it clears up toward the middle and until the end. Enjoy!

This is a super helpful video. What you’re saying to do is also good to show on videos 3 and videos 4. I might have to re film those videos…

Your videos have been extremely helpful. Thank you for this great resource. I have one question. I need to create 'two' rubrics, then? One for my students to use for self-assessment, and one I will use for my formative? If this is the case, can I not simply give my students the formative assessment rubric (Which is what I always do) so they can see how they will be graded, and what they need to do? Thank you.

Hi! I'm glad you are finding the videos helpful! You need to create two rubrics but not one for the formative assessment, necessarily. You need one for the FORMAL assessment and one for the student self-assessment. And yes, these can be similar or the same if you are having them assess themselves on the same skills that you are assessing them on in the formal assessment.

Another good video! I have a question on something you mentioned in the video that I’m considering for my own on CalTPA cycle 2. You mentioned to give feedback from a self assessment on their formal assessment. Would that look something like this? 1. I will have students do a formal assessment. (Drawing Geometry lines etc.) 2. Have students grade their work as we go over it. (red pen) 3. Have students complete a self assessment of their work using a rubric. 4. Give feedback on their self Assessment.

Sounds like one way to do this, though, you are expected to score the formal assessment using a rubric :)

Hello Kristy, I have another question, for the rubrics for self assessment and formal assessment, do we need to actually write down the ELD goals there too? Or briefly mention them in each of the progression levels? Or can we just talk about how our assessments line up with the ELD goals only in part C, the description of the assessments?

Hi, Ric - you don’t need to include them in your rubrics. You certainly can, but talking about how your assessments line up with your ELD goals in Part C is a plus.
