Great video! Keep them coming. As someone who's new to Seattle and wants to ride, this motivates me!

Will you please rather use 84th Ave SE to 24th St to the bike path leading to North Mercer Way? Please get word out. Bicyclists should not be riding on the sidewalk where the bus stops are on Mercer Island. It is just a matter of time before there is a collision between pedestrians and bicyclists. Thanks.

Yes definitely can be used as a running trail but if you'd prefer something with a softer surface consider the Cross Kirkland Corridor trail as that's about 11 miles of more dirt/gravel path!

Where do u park on i90, any landmark

These are the options I can recommend for parking near Mercer Island along the I90 trail. The I90 trail is quite long, so there's a ton more options depending on where you want to ride (more videos to come). If you're wanting to head westbound (cross over the I-90 Bridge into Seattle): this parking lot is pretty convenient: no specific landmark but here's a link goo.gl/maps/DLGaZ1d3AZmMGyQG6 If you want to access this trail and middle of Mercer Island: Mercer Island Park and Ride is a great option. This route (as pictured in the video) started right near Enatai Beach Park, so you can park there and go up the trail to head westbound to Mercer Island as well.

So you like to run through stop signs.

Thanks for the reply! Washington actually has passed laws to allow the "Idaho Stop" in which cyclists can treat stop signs as yield ones in most cases. The PoV in the video is from a camera on my handlebars but I'm definitely looking out for traffic and slowing down before each stop. Ride safe out there! sdotblog.seattle.gov/2020/09/30/washington-states-new-bicycle-safety-stop-law-allows-people-biking-to-treat-stops-signs-as-yield-signs-with-some-exceptions/

Your selection for good trails is not a good one since the trail goes on the sidewalk past the Park n Ride putting both cyclists and pedestrians at risk. Sadly a lot of each will go to the hospital with serious injuries until this is fixed. Bicycles should never be routed onto pedestrian sidewalks. Hopefully this will be fixed before someone is killed.

Thanks for your comment and feedback. I mentioned in the video that my preferred route is also on the roads to avoid conflicts with other road users. I could have made some of those aspects more explicit. Link for my usual route ridewithgps.com/routes/35297889 This video was basically to highlight the "status quo" route that Seattle has put out for crossing Mercer Island. Which you can find via their web bicycle map seattlecitygis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=a24b25c3142c49e194190d6a888d97e3.

@@BestSideCycling - There is actually a cycling lane that runs behind the Park n Ride that is excellent for cyclists. Not so many hills, not so much traffic, just safer all the way along. Sadly though it is not well marked so cyclists know how to switch on to it.

Several years ago, right after we exited the 550 and were walking on the sidewalk in front of the MI park and ride. a cyclist hit my wife from behind at high speed knocking her to the pavement and leaving her cheek bleeding. His response to the collision was to jump up and come at her screaming "I will f*** you up" when I got between them and other pedestrians also came to our aid. That one incident, and a decade later we look at every cyclist with distrust and suspicion and brace for conflict.
