In Western Australia over the last few days ex-tropical cyclone Mangaa has been wreaking havoc along the west coast. The cyclone damaged homes, produced monster waves and prevented aircraft from landing. This seemed like a great opportunity to see what the SFX100 flight simulator motion platform would do and how the weather would be depicted by ActiveSky XP.
About 24 hours after the eye of the storm had passed I put this video together. To start, the experience I put my twin engine Baron 58 on the runway at Perth International YPPH. I'm using default X-Plane scenery with the addition of Chris K's free Australia Pro textures. Clouds and skies are provided by ActiveSky. I will take off then head north for a few minutes then turn east and climb.
I've put a clear bottle with water on the rig so you can see the movement. Hang on for the ride!
