I think the losing decision for kickoo was the persistent aggression after cymanti made their centipedes. The aggression was great before cymanti had the counterplay, but he ended up overextending himself. He should've gone on the defensive and went for roads and trade to get a strong economy while keeping ships behind his cities to force the opponent to overextend themselves if they want a chance to do anything. Pressure is a great tool, but sometimes it can be the wrong play, as shown in this video.

agree kickoo already have ship fire support so just research defender and park them at choke point that enough for stop centipedes.

Really awesome, thanks for the feedback and analysis. Yeah this was my most enjoyable game I had on a random match and it was really scary ngl. Anyways, thanks 🙏. Honestly he could have added pressure to my north corner around turn 19-21 (ziich) since that is my least defended city. If he managed to take it, that would be a massive foothold against me.

8:00 Alright. Kickoo needs to get custome houses to get a strong economy, so that he can create loads of battleships. Cymanti needs to get those fishes to get strong water units and needs to get algeas in strategic spots to get more places to move his units into the enemies territory. And he needs to get a centipede that constantly eats. But honestly, I see no way Cymanti can win this. Let's see. Update: Yup, centipedes. I think one big mistake of Kickoo was to go for Philosophy. Yes, it decreases tech cost, but for the amount it cost to get to Philosophy, he could have just gotten custome houses. Would have been much earlier, and would have given him a stronger navy. Philosophy is only ever worth it if you wanna buy like 6 or more techs. (Or she, sorry for assuming gender lol)

Getting philosophy was just a suggestion after getting meditation from the rune. At 16:50, no philosophy in tech tree, and that was turn 23, then on turn 24, they bought nav and get a battleship. They never bought philosophy.

Turn 15 the kickoo player makes a sudden and drastic change in strategy. They've been making these incredibly aggressive plays the entire game at the cost of their economy. At the end of it, the cym player still has just as many villages as they did before and their position is no weaker than if kickoo had just stayed back, played defensively and economically. I think they realized their plan didn't work and decided to go finally work on their economy with all the upgrades they take. The problem is they have no way of dealing with these two monster centipedes now and they're going to end up losing because they didn't just pull all their units back and let their ships get ready to kill these centipedes.

True, prolly felt too confident cuz Cymanti has mainly low hp units. Also, Kickoo should not have gone down the philosophy path. Doesn't pay off if you just want to buy 3 techs.

Should have gone philosophy, customs houses, battleships. Maybe even some mindbenders to protect the cities. One next to his capital would have given him the south side advantage if he captured the centipede.
