Shigella, a non-motile bacteria that causes diarrhea, has a protein called IcsA (located only on one end of it). This protein binds N-WASP, which in turn binds Arp2/3, starting polymerization of actin at one end of the bacteria, allowing it to move inside the cell. It also allows it to make protrusions in the membrane, which are engulfed by adjacent cells, there by evading the immune system. This makes so much sense when you see this lecture, thank you!

Dear professor, i read that cilia and flagella are formed by the centrioles and not by the centromers as you have explained. You explained that the centromers possess gamma-tubulin which makes up the positive part which negative alpha-tubulin attaches to. I read in the internet that centrioles make up the cilia and flagella and not the centromer. How can I understand this now?
