We surely do! Actually, in 1983, I had the great honour to meet Mr Cziffra personally. We had a long conversation about music and his and my work and believe me or not, that happened at the same place this beautiful recording was made! I played for Maestro Cziffra on the same piano at the same place, quite unbelievable, but true! Regards, Geert Dehoux.

This is the most haunting and extraordinary interpretation of this piece. It sounds different from almost all other accounts but shows us much more of the emotions and pictures in this piece. He slows down at just the right places, emphasizes the melody and harmony perfectly to create a magical wiorld. Bravo and thank you.

Thanks for this film of Cziffra towards the end of his life. The death of his son Gyorgy Jr. in a fire in 1981 was a terrible tragedy Cziffra never recovered from. The pain shows in his face and adds poignancy to his passionate account of this beautiful work of Chopin.

Knowing the Hungarian culture a bit, how noble and gallant they are, how kind and serious their culture is, a serious part of them is Cziffra, and this performance just gives me pain for Cziffra for his lost of shine for living but still leave us a masterpiece of a farewell and pride as he/they allways had !.. What an interpretation !.. I have rarely cried,.. Joy and sorrow could be mixed together, I also learned. Thank you Universe ! Thank you Cziffra !!!...

Yes, I still remember everybody had to leave the concert hall, but he let me stay to have a long and very kind conversation about his and my work, music and life. One of the things I remember well is that he said Schubert's Impromptus are "the best music"! Strange, isn't it, because he himself only played 2 of them. That was in 1982 or 1983, but I think it was in 1982, 30 years ago... Kindest regards, Geert Dehoux.

Your characterization of Yamaha pianos is dead wrong. I’ve worked extensively with a lot of them, and Steinways as well, and there is simply no truth to these silly myths about the Yamaha being unresponsive. It’s an incredibly beautiful instrument to play, and if it feels different from a Steinway, then great; no patents were violated. Play what you like, but keep unfounded rumors to yourself. One problem with these rumors is that they originate with some piano nerd sitting down at an unfamiliar piano and playing. Immediately he makes excuses for himself as he fumbles a little. “It’s the piano.” But if you want to compare apples to apples, you have to put both pianos side-by-side in the same hall and have a very competent technician regulate the keyboards and tune the strings. When the technician has them both “perfect,” then try them out. You’ll find it hard to choose between a Steinway and a Yamaha. They both have things that make them outstanding to play. It’s not so much about what one piano lacks as it is about what you’ll miss in that one if you choose the other piano.
