The high track D4 skidders I was around always seem to be operated by kids told to Go Go Go, so yes, things happen in the woods!! High centered on a stump or buried four feet into a bog, never had a rollover😂

It's unreal, you see all the old timers come up with a plan in 5 minutes that worked, yet the younger generation wouldn't have a clue, I didn't see any young blokes there. It's very sad to see were running out of old timers like these blokes that have done so much, over so many years. And yes things happen sometimes but they sorted it out pretty quick. The new generation does sweet F.A in comparason generally.

Good video! They were surely working hauling that cable, but those guys look like they haul a lot of cable everyday. Nothing new to a logger! Most of the crews I work around would have tied the Deere Skidder on and winched it with that, but every situation is different. Thanks for the video!

From my understanding, he was grabbing the log with the grapplers and he hit some very soft dirt and then it just rolled over slowly, at least thats what the operator said, Mind you he rolled it over 3 Days earlier Also, thats why I was there My friend Daryl asked me to Video it because I told him you should of called me when he recovered it the First time LOL.

Good way of ruining an engine starting it that quick. I put my grapple skidder almost over and just far enough the feller/buncher had to come save me but not all the way over. And we still let it sit for a 5-10 minutes before running it. Started it just long enough to drop the drag I was holding when it was righted

not if it's dry.. no need for them (and looking at the logo on the white truck in the beginning, that's Placerville which is about 40 miles east of Sacramento CA) in the summer time.. in Oregon (where I'm from) oh HELL yes we use chains on the skidders, your not going to get enough traction in the mud othewise.
