My mother was a touring bassist in the 60’s and 70’s, and she always seemed to play these strings. Consequently, I grew up playing these strings on her strange Vox semi hollow body bass. That thing has the skinniest neck I’ve ever seen, but a cool old bass, and I must’ve been 15 before I knew what round wound strings were. Those string are sure easy on your fingers especially if like me, you’re a speed finger player, and they will “clank” if you want them to! (I’m pretty sure it was a Vox Apollo)

I have very oily skin and sweat a lot.(sorry). When doing gigs with the Fabulous Pig Farmers under lights, I would get through a set of strings each night. Now, I just wipe the tapewounds down. Plus a fantastic tone on my Les Paul Special bass. With a piece of foam next to the bridge on the Jack Cassidy bass, these strings sound like an upright bass and I get lots of work with the Whitebeards Retirement Home Big Band. Same band, different audience. Still use flatwounds on the J bass for a different sound, but tapewounds are practical and give me what I want. Louisiana thump.

Thanks for the review,.indeed no sleeping on them,.vintage tone, and the things that worked will always work..always,but they seem to work and sound more focused on the precision bass,.as they seem to take the growl out of the Jazz abit,.a hint is still there though,..

Nice Demo Buddy! I think I'll try a set on my PJ w/EMG+ BTS Bass. These strings seem to have a little more clarity and "Zing" than Regular Flats. All my other Basses are Marcus Miller type active J Basses with stainless Roundwounds. I'll leave those alone, they are perfect. But the PJ......

When you travel with your instrument do you take it on board and request they put your case in the coat closet? As you know the airlines are notorious for destroying and losing one’s property. Each bass has its own personality.
