@Newnodrogbob

@@jimkostan9932 ok, so the plural of Gibson doesn’t need an apostrophe, and you mean “they’re.” With that out of the way: what $899 Gibson semi hollow are you using? Or are you comparing a $900 guitar to a $3k guitar? It’s fair if you don’t like the headstock, but the rest of your comment is weird. I only ever see Gibson guys doing this. There’s never fender guys online deriding other brands. PRS players don’t need to hit up every video to talk about how that guitar isn’t as good as theirs. Something about Gibson fans…probably that they’ve bought wildly overpriced lifestyle brand products that aren’t produced with much care…

To me, this is the most interesting model in D’Angelico’s lineup. It offers something unique beyond their (extremely cool) art deco style. Smaller guitarists can finally have a 335-style guitar without looking silly! I really like the concept, and it seems like they did well in terms of fit and finish!

I just got Matt, the D Angelico guitar that is very much like my gibson 330, except it has no F holes. It is hollow/or semi hollow, I don’t know if it has a solid block down the center like a 335 has,.. it came with a hard case , it has a six way pick up selector toggle. I can switch between single coil and hum bucker. The fit and finish are excellent. The headstock is a work of art. it was set up perfect at the factory.. mine is a satin finish blue.. I cannot describe the sound of these pick ups, so I will let the indescribable remains so.. I have been playing guitar since the 1960s. This is the finest group tomorrow I have ever owned.

My son purchased the Kurt Rosenwinkel model, which is a semi-hollow single-cut, when they were available several years back. He's a jazz player, and this has become his #1 instrument. I do all of his repair and setup work, and in all of the years of use, the only issue is that I had to reglue the nut at one point. D'Angelico's MIK guitars, in my opinion, rival the Ibanez MIJ stuff, in the same type class, at a more reasonable price.

I’ve been eyeing one of these up before you posted this..! Man that would be badass to win! I put in my entry’s and now I’m just anxiously awaiting Fridays podcast! Of course I liked the video and have been a subscriber for about 2 1/2 years. I came across your page when I was in the market for a new to me American Stratocaster, your video gave me the confidence to buy a used American Strat and I succeeded in getting what I was looking for.. I’ve since moved on from that Strat and have another one I was fortunate enough to buy brand new.. but when I got that first Strat, it wasn’t set up quite the way I wanted it to be and I couldn’t afford to have a luthier go through the guitar so I studied up on your videos and dialed it in on my own and ever since then, I refuse to have anyone set up another guitar for me every again. I love dialing in my guitars and doing all of my own upgrades/ adjustments and whatever else! It’s the other fun part of guitar and Knowing Your Gear! You’re doing the guitar community a real solid Phil, thanks man! Now if I could my hands on a blonde D’Angelico that would be lovely haha. Take care

I just bought an Ibanez Artstar at the same price point. It had perfect fit and finish, gold hardware, a second mini-toggle with some cool coil split and out of phase electronics, double bound body and bound neck, some incredible fretboard inlays with a touch of abalone in each one, and my favorite thing was the pickguard having a matching antique burst finish that matches the guitar. Not even bagging on D'Angelico. I had a 12 string semi hollow electric in black with ebony fretboard about 3 years ago that I really liked. But still, do yourself a favor and go look at the Artstar. A lot for the $.

That's a sweet colour. I have an Ocean Turquiose DC - Premier version (bought before they launched the Mini DC series) I love it. One of the most versatile guitars I have, love the mellow jazzy tones - but it sure can deliver more bite when needed too. If the Mini version had been available when I got mine, I think I would have preferred it - my only 'criticism' of the full size DC is that it's not the most ergonomic guitar for me personally, it's very slightly too big for me to play comfortably for long periods. I love the build quality and sound though.
