for eateries, there are Halal and non halal eateries. Halal eateries are halal certified eateries and must follow islamic way of food preparation and prohibition. These eateries you cant get pork and some other proteins (eg. mud crabs, frog meat and etc). All malays and Mamak (indian muslim) owned eateries are halal in status. non halal eateries are eateries that dont follow islamic way of food preparation. They can covered chinese, indian, western, korean, japanese and other eateries, Although some japanese, korean and western offering that dont serve pork can be halal eateries also, The Burgers you guys were having are road side stalls mostly operated by Malays muslim, therefore no pork. Some burger restaurants that operated by chinese do have pork burger. You may find them in night market or restaurants,
