For those wondering, the school is still there, right near the Abukuma River, within a block from Hwy. 123. It is labeled as a primary school. The bulk of the video was from the northeast side of the building, looking mostly eastward. This view is thus of the mouth of the Abukuma River, and of Sendai Bay. The overhead imagery from Google Maps is from 2021. The street view, however is from April, 2013. You can see some of the buildings that survived the tsunami in the street view imagery, for example at the 2:30 mark there is a 2 story home to the upper left that is gray, and has a white triangle on the roof, that faces the videographer and the school. That building is there in 2013, but virtually every building was torn down by 2021. Just about the only home that seems to have survived to 2021, is the home with a first floor sun room directly to the left of the school, right across the drainage ditch/stream which divides it from the school grounds. The devastation can clearly be seen in the Google Maps imagery, as what was once a fairly dense neighborhood remains mostly a wasteland today. The wave overpowering the flood protection is one of the most terrifying images from the March 11, 2011 tsunami. Google Maps
