@@nugsovile4333 Well, I am sure you have a scene but my point about crossover was that it was crossing over, and that was brand new. Almost 40 years later I am sure bands are playing all sorts of hybrid music, but when DRI came in the scene the “crossover” was brand new.

Crazy how D.R.I was labeled as metalcore back then! Much has changed I think. Metalcore has evolved to sound much differently nowadays in my opinion. My dad grew up during this era and he said there was NOTHING like D.R.I or Suicidal Tendencies for that matter. Went from favoring classic heavy metal bands like Judas Priest to crossover overnight (though he still holds much respect for the pre-crossover metal bands!)

In the 80s, metalcore meant crossover. It only recently that shit bands took the genre name.

Metal changes, music changes, and they didn't take the name. The labels gave them the name and the fans choose rather that the genre fits the band.

The shows at Fenders ballroom. Violent insanity. Bodies flying everywhere. Kurt walking on everyone's heads. LADS , Suicidal punks and Circle One waging war in the pit. More people on the stage than in the crowd. 5 dollar shirts . The human steam was fucking gross. Good times 😌

seriously bud they are so fucking awesome live last show I saw them at fitzgeralds in Houston we all dropped some acid and drank some home-brewed hooch and they kicked my fuckin asshole, I recall the song FIVE YEAR PLAN blistering my fuckin ears while my friend Android picked me up by my feet and literally used me as a human club and beat the shit outta everyone like I was a Louisville slugger then threw me across the room onto the stage I did a little dance and punched myself in the face repeatedly while skankin off the side and stage dove- yes I was caught... for once lmao every time I done a stage dive I usually land on my face best show ever man, id sew my DRI patch to my damn face if I knew my fam wouldn't send me to a institution

Current bass player is harrold o. Fun dude! Tons of stories. Book just released with tons of his pics from the ol' CA days; "Murder in the front row." Guitar player is still Spike. Just has short hair. They always keep going through drummers. And Kurt is still at the front. But I agree, still super fun!!!

*Josh Pepe, bass player from this line-up is doing Gang Green, still, I think. Felix, the drummer from this video is doing BAT with guitarist from M. Waste. This line-up did a few reunion shows in the TX area. You probably saw this line-up and didn't know cause everyone minus Kurt has short hair. Lol

They are from Houston, but in the early 80's they moved to the Bay area. I know DRI are from Houston because they lived close to our neighborhood.

@@lorddrac_dontaskmetodance I was a few years younger. So I did not attend garage gigs at the time. However they played gigs at a club called The Island. I do recall Slayer opening for DRI. The show was $5 bucks. Imagine that? 2 Good things to come out of Houston...Bill Hicks and DRI.
