Thanks for your insightful commentary UL. Let me put this first(because what comes next may be confusing and paradoxical): For the most part, I agree with your commentary and we shouldn't support war and war mongering in any form. I also agree that Abraham and Yemane/Baria are rare bread of artists who have uniquely supported Eritrean people's causes without በሎ፡ ደብደቦ፡ ጉመዶ ...-- the "signature phrases" of Wedi Tikhul and other artists who are product of armed struggle[ don't get me wrong, I love Wedi Tikhul and his songs, regardless how paradoxical my previous statements may appear in light of this sentence]. The reality though, no one can clap with a single hand. We have a super canning, arrogant enemy and I'm afraid Abraham's methodology wouldn't have worked in 2ይ/3ይ ወራር። This is not to say Abraham should have been aggressive or pro-war, I just mean when you are in danger, there is a need for patriotic songs to be stimulating and may literally call to pick up arms or anything to destroy the enemy(perceived enemy). I don't necessarily support this, hence quoted the "perceived enemy" I don't think we need them now and hope we will never need them in the future, but historically patriotic songs are usually nude in their phrasing and pinpointed in mobilizing the masses and a call to action to crush and destroy the enemy(perceived enemy) and this is not particular to Eritrean artists, it happened in many countries including the countries we live in now(the west). Actually the French national anthem(ሃገራዊ መዝሙር) is so scary to listen to - listen to its English version or read the lyrics[ IMO, I found መንደላይ to be a toned down version of it]. I admit supporting the "spirit" of the songs from the Eritrean side, not its wording and the "drama" they show there though. My support is especially after I listened to random Tigriyan dude mimic "ሳዋ' by Wedi Tikhul. He, "the Tigrayan imitator", literally said "ብኻ መዃን ኮንኪ" referring to an Eritrean mother. I think that is offensive and I assume many Eritrean youth who have gone to Sawa would be offended by this dude's wish on their mother rather being than bearing them so that they go through Sawa to be thieves, rapists, criminals etc ... I didn't even care to feel bad about the "ኣስመራ እንተዘይኣትየ ኣይትግራዋይን" ዓጀውጀው - that can only be a joke or hallucination. To reiterate my position and form collective summary, while I generally agree with your commentary, I still would "partially" support a patriotic song "without" the crude and nude language of calling for war and dramatic acts constructed by stereotypical stories(ጨርቂ ለለዋ ጨርቂ ለይብላ nonsense). I just ignored your commentary on the business side of this craziness - because I fully agree that they are conducting sentiment analysis on youth and feed them based on what needs to be trending for the next few weeks/months without any concern how that can exacerbate division among Eritreans. I feel so bad that youth, adults, and middle aged Eritreans are not only being easily manipulated by the dictator's agenda again and again, but also contribute to their financial needs indirectly/directly - and I feel guilty for partially supporting መንደላይ።

Thanks for pinning UL - I hope it stimulates engaging conversation. For some reason, KZitem kept omitting a properly written "N-u-ll-i-p-a-r-o-u-s or I N F E R T I L E" in the above comment(... wish on their mother rather being ______ /መኻን than bearing....). I assume it could be due to the sensitive nature of the word. I hope readers will be able to draw contextual meaning from the preceding sentence. I also hope the misspelled breed/bread won't bother them. Once again, thank you for your insightful commentary.

Isayas Afwerki and his closest associates at the top wield undisputed authority not only because the former used the power of his presidential office to make his word the supreme and undisputed command in PFDJ but also because he depended on our cheerful people to place an optimistic overreliance on him.
