After three successful albums on major labels D'Sound joined the small indie family at daWorks for their album "Doublehearted" (2003). Just before Christmas 2002 the band decided to do something crazy: Shoot a video on 35 mm film for the first single «Do I Need A Reason» from the album collaborating with the young Norwegian emerging director talent RayKay. A risky task in a small music industry like Norway. The video and single went on to get massive radio and tv airplay through Christmas 2002 and first half of 2003. This was the perfect start for the album that was released in June. It went top 3, sold 25.000 units in Norway, produced a handful of great singles and was launched in more than 50 territories. Norwegian stand up comedian Jonas Rønning joined the video cast as Simone's grumpy boss. The same did artist Gil Bonden and daWorks promo and marketing manager 'K' as extras. The video was shot on location in Oslo in the café located in the Oslo student house Chateau Neuf. It was December and the snow was falling outside ☃️. ...in the end it was all about a great song. Director RayKay later went on to direct Justin Bieber’s “Baby” and Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face”. "Do I Need A Reason" has become a Norwegian pop classic, and as they say, the rest is history.
