It’s starting to snowball on this old girl, you’ll be in framing next 😄. Some heavy work going on with those brake bands and drums, never taken one apart like that. I was taught PPAST (pee past) for adjusting the steering bands, can’t remember what it stood for, protrusion was part of the mnemonic. Thank you for the upload, man, you never stop, one of the pitfalls of being self employed 🙁. Have a good New Year, and always have an eye out for yourself and family, no one else will.

Work at freightliner and we usually do a look through on the whole truck and im a stickler for finding things like as problems that might come about while they are in the shop for the repairs. Kinda like a maintenance check and its an upsell for one and the second is that customers don't lose time for a another repair while truck is down. Just a curiosity check for the customer .

Hiya Warren like watching your videos. I'm from the uk nos what you mean about people in cars. It's getting bad here trouble is in the UK. Our government just keep letting people in we are just to over congested. When you think you can drive in a car from one end to the other in say 30 hrs ish. I'm 56 I use to be a heavy truck machanic working on the 14 litre small cam and big cam cummins. Our fuller boxes in the UK were mainly 9 and 13 speed fullers. You remind me of my ex shop foreman he would do anything. He was from the uk but went to Canada in the 70s. In the end he was shop foreman rebuilding cat cummins Detroits macks and they use to overhaul lots of transmissions and rear ends. I learnt a lot from him many yrs ago. Lol many yrs ago we would go and do pistons and liners on the fair ground trucks at the wend. And those chaps would never change the Dca water filters etc. I remember pulling the liners out of a 14 litre. And the top of the counterbores were pitted. And I remember the fair was pulling down there rides and stuff. So we just carefully areoldited the counterbores with this special cement glu. Never heard no more from that truck after that. Never even leaked water pasted the head gaskets. Not the right way I no normally the liner seal area would be pitted to. . He showed me a little trick by using bathtub sealer around the liner seals again never no more trouble. But mainly the engines would be pulled and have the blocks remachined. He was telling me in the 70s cummins nearly caught a cold. I no the mpg on a cummins in this country were never great. But anyway he told me he played about with the cam timing. And he was getting up up to nearly just short I think if my memory serves me right to another 1.5 to a gallon a mile better. His wife told me truckers were ringing him at home from all over ontario to get there Trucks booked in.

Warren, one day when you have time (yeah, Warren having "time" that's rich), you should think about giving us a "shop tour". This way you never know what someone may have they aren't using any more, but suddenly know someone that can "use it".. Just a thought. You were talking about cleaning that turbo and you never said you had a "hot tank" for deep parts washing, that would cook the crap right out of a crusty turbo without doing any damage. That or a big enough ultrasonic cleaner would also do a number on grime in hard to reach places. Curious how your boy is doing in school, I think you mentioned he wanted to become a paramedic. He sure got you something that you can really use in the shop and in the field, that's an impressive light. Well, though I would get in a Happy New Years, to you, your family & Trent. You folks stay safe and here's to an even brighter 2022! Cheers & Thanks for the Share!

Amazing work you are doing Warren to all machines from a tractor to pickup to trucks l am surprised that the government in your county/ state have not helped getting the trucks compliance with a grant , as with the world getting sick very slowly , l don't want a polluted world for our kids Surely you agree with that ( the kids) are the priority here & animals. I love two stroke bikes they are loud noisy & blow out 2stroke fumes l love all that man , but there comes a time when we may have to stop using them. Easy fix on the light Warren , just turn it so the bar/handle is vertical rather than horizonal. I think it will hold then. That won't work for all light settings but it should help some. Oh and that idiot driver you were telling us about , not only was he stupid , he couldn't see either. The reason he was tailgating you was he needed a car in front of him to guide him along. When there's a lip like that on the brake discs of my F350. I just spin the wheel with one hand while grinding down the disk with a grinder, as it spins--- so it makes it nice and smooth, almost like working it on a lathe. I've saved a lot of money turning my own discs that way and it has always worked well with no issues... If it was easy to get to that lip without taking it all apart, It's a shame that you couldn't have just ground that lip down so that the drum surface would be smooth again across the entire thing and your adjustment would be even, rather than high on one side and low on the other. (given that your drum was still thick enough-- if it was getting too thin, I can understand needing to change it.)... And I overheard you say that it was at the end of it's adjustment-- so I suppose the new drums are going to be much larger/ thicker--- so maybe grinding the drum still wouldn't have worked if it's too far gone.. But I always look at that sort of thing first, before committing to long jobs like this... but hey, once it's back together, she'll have a long life ahead of her this way.
