Hey Micke! Amazing video again! Could you make a video showing and talking about the flight planning of these ferry flights across different countries? Showing how you study and check about air traffic rules from those different countries, the differences, etc. Do you use Jeppesen manual for that? Hi Helge, I still had to do my “before take off” checklist which includes the ECU test. This takes a minute or two so this is why I told him that I need 2 more minutes :)

Even though we haven't seen too many shots from the instrument panel his time I'm really interested in the power settings und fuel flow numbers you use on ferry flights. What I've seen from your previous flights is, that you use around 70-75 % in cruise while flying relatively short legs (compared to the maximum range of a DA-40). So my question is, why you're not using a lower setting (e.g. 60 % as published by Diamond Aircraft for maximum range) for greater range which would result in fewer stops and probably faster overall travel time? Is it for convience or do you have to do a stop after a certain time, or something else maybe?
@MickeLang
3 жыл бұрын
Hi David, that's a good question. In some countries you are limited to some airports due to insurance, customs, immigration, landing fees, hotel availability, handling services or fuel availability. For example, we refuel so little that some airports just don't want us because it would not be profitable for them. So this is why you have to fly certain routes and some times they are longer and sometimes they are shorter. And to this we adapt our power setting. And the next thing we have to consider is wind. Having 50 knots on the nose in a DA40 is not the nicest thing to have :P Feel free and try to plan a ferry from LOAN to OEDF and tell me what route you would choose. You will see that's not so easy ;)

Hi Mick, thank you for sharing all the ferry flight video. It's really enjoy to see all the scenic view and all the flight operation. I'm a student pilot and fly the DA-40 NG. However, I'm kinda scared of the first solo flight. Do you have any advice to reduce the anxiety? By the way, in our flight school the DA 40 stall warning horn will horning when we are practice landing during the flare. But in you video i didn't hear the stall horn? Did you turned it off? Thank you
@MickeLang
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Allen! Just be focused and enjoy it, no need to be “scared”. I’m sure your instructor trained you well and he would not let you go solo if he wouldn’t think that you’re ready☺️🤘🏼 Actually you can not turn off the stall horn😉 It depends how you land the 40, but to be fair, i turn down the audio file of the non intercom camera while editing, otherwise it would be to annoying listening to the loud sound☺️
