@tdsims1963

@@Emiliapocalypse I read this and stopped to agree. My goddaughter us living proof. Her parents and I (I was the adopted "auntie") had a "no baby talk" policy. If the word or concept was too large we just simply broke it down into easier to understand bits. By the age of six, my goddaughter had the vocabulary of a young adult. And she read at a fifth grade level sometimes higher. And to be honest, I don't think she was at all remarkably gifted. She just had adults who treated her as a small, intelligent human being, not as a toy or a possession. Some results from this: She went into the military at age eighteen with the intent of travel and education. She saved her own money and put herself through school (her parents helped her but this young lady is fiercely independent and wanted to prove herself) all the way up and through graduate. She is now a forensic pathologist. If more parents treated their children as future contributors to the community instead of dependents or possessions, the world might be a better place. Just a thought.

Not only is this the most adorable video, this father is teaching his baby SO much. Conversation, face/eye contact when speaking with someone, listening for tone and picking up on facial expressions. Even though he's not actually saying real words he's learning to hold a conversation because his father is responding to his babbles. This is how language and communication starts! Talk to your babies/toddlers. They're learning the whole time.
