I own a DP-51 (bought in late 1992). It was developed for the South Korean military (all soldiers, not just officers, were issued this pistol). It can also use S&W 5900 series 9mm magazines, though they stick out slightly since the DP-51 came with 13-round magazines. It's my favorite EDC large-frame pistol (it's quite comfortable in a soft-sided IWB holster), and I've never had a malfunction with it--and mine is accurate too. I normally stuff it with Remington +P 115 gr. JHP rounds that were--maybe still are?--the standard duty ammo carried by the LAPD. I will never sell it--it's just perfect for me.

Personally I used the magazine to help push out the crosspin whenever I disassembled it

Understand. We wouldn’t normally do something like that since it’s reference gun we wish to maintain. But…good to know as a true field strip option! Marky

It may seem weird to some, but I have probably received more emails about how to take this gun down than any other weapon. The issue is folks know HOW to do it. It’s just the force required makes them believe mistakes are being made. -Marky

Lionheart in the USA sells replacement springs. Looking at their SKU numbers, I would guess it’s a 15lb spring. Also looking at the S&W guns, on which this is based, a 15lb recoil spring would be standard in 9mm. You could go up or down as needed. But I think 15 is a good place to start. Hope this helps. -Marky

yep have had my DP51 since the early 90s - no problems with accuracy - (from 5 feet and closer) 😜 but for some dang reason - it's difficult finding accessories for this wonder-weapon 🤣

Yeah, I can see that. Not like the DP went on to world wide adoption. I have also seen comments about the accuracy. Perhaps one way we should do a video testing ours. -Marky

I still have my DP 51 to this day since I bought it in the early '90's when it first came out in the market. No issues and performs very well.

How do you take the firing pin out?
@John1911
2 жыл бұрын
There is a horizontal pin behind the ejector window that needs to be driven out. It can be pushed either way. That enables the firing pin parts (FP plunger) to come out. -Marky

I ran a daewoo a few times. The difference was it had forks on the front. It kind of reminded me of a Yale. (I warned goofy comments were back. But I did drive one at work, along with a lot of other equipment from multiple sources.) 😎
